Australian/US rock trio Sick Puppies are celebrating today as their US single 'Maybe' enters the Billboard Top 40 and looks set to climb into the highest echelons of the US charts over the next few weeks. And as their star soars into the ascendant in America, they head over to the UK for a one-off show ahead of the launch of their debut UK single, 'All The Same'.
'All The Same' has gained worldwide attention being the soundtrack to the third-most viewed video in You Tube's history; the 'Free Hugs' video which was has been viewed an incredible 64 million times and counting.
The video features the lead singer Shimon's friend, Juan Mann, who used to walk around Sydney streets carrying a placard offering 'Free Hugs'. Shimon captured him on video and a few years later after Shimon had moved to the US he found out Juan's grandmother had died so he emailed Juan the video, set to the Sick Puppies track 'All The Same', to let him know he was thinking of him. The video was subsequently uploaded on YouTube and sparked a movement to offer Free Hugs around the world.
Sick Puppies are comprised of Shimon Moore on vocals and guitar, Emma Anzai on bass and Mark Goodwin on drums. Marrying a jagged rhythmic punch and heavy grunge drone with pop-punk sensibilities and a radio-friendly sheen, Sick Puppies kick up a storm full of aggression and melody that's won them millions of fans in North America and Australia. Now, with the release of 'All The Same' and their debut UK show, British rock fans get a chance to discover the band for themselves.
Sick Puppies debut UK album will be released in the spring with more touring to come.
