Nothing too new, but I thought I'd post it anyway...
long way from Sydney
Australian band comes to T.F.

Shimon Moore doesn't know a whole lot about Twin Falls.
Idaho, after all, is a long way from Sydney, Australia - Moore's hometown and the birthplace of his alternative rock band, Sick Puppies.
But this weekend, he and his band mates, Emma Anzai and Mark Goodwin, will learn what kind of crowdTwin Falls can produce.
The Sick Puppies are performing the final summer concert at Kruzer's Night Life on Saturday night. It's not the first time they've been toIdaho - they opened for rock band Evanescence at Boise's Qwest Arena in November - but this time, they're looking forward to headlining for a smaller crowd.
"You know what, man, allI know about Idaho is the crowds,"Moore said. Between traveling, sound checks and shows, "we kind of live in a bubble. Iknow the (Boise) crowd was huge and awesome and that's all we really remember."
Guitarist and lead singer Moore and bassist Anzai founded the Sick Puppies in 1997 and released their first EP in 1999. Their latest album, "Dressed Up As Life,"features their popular song "All The Same," which ranked eight on the U.S. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. The SickPuppies received international attention in 2006 when "AllThe Same"was paired with a video of a man offering to give strangers hugs in a Sydney mall. That video received more than 29 million hits on YouTube.com and sparked a global "Free Hugs"movement.
The fame doesn't seem to have gotten to Moore, who considers it an honor to headline shows and open for bands like Evanescence and "The band that shall not be named".
"As far as we're concerned, we're just a baby band,"he said. They still appreciate the small, intimate shows, which have a different feel than arena gigs.
"You can really hear people, feel people," Moore said. "It's all good man, you know what Imean?"
Kurt Kruzer, owner of Kruzer's Night Life, said he first heard Sick Puppies at the November Evanescence concert.
"They were really good. They put on a great show,"he said. Kruzer was especially impressed by Anzai. "She is just awesome,"he said.
Kruzer hopes to sell 2,000 tickets for this show, but he admits it might be a long shot. Kruzer's July 19 concert, featuring Craig Morgan, sold 900 tickets.
"It's been a rough summer,"he said.
The Sick Puppies should draw a young crowd - one excited for the band's subtly intense sound and energetic stage presence. And Moore is excited to see how Twin Falls will respond to his band's music.
"Shows are like a first date with a girl," Moore said."It's always fun because it's always going to be like a new experience."
Sick Puppies, he said, tries to be the Casanova of rock bands. They want to charm fans with their energetic performance so they return for a second date.
"By the end of the show, you want people to come back because they (expletive) had a blast,"he said.
