Emma of Sick Puppies talks Tattoos, Music – Exclusive Interview

THE STAR SCOOP:
Your song “Maybe” was recently released. What can you tell us about the song?

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
It’s a song about having the courage to make a change in your life no matter where you’re at. The song reminds us of when we made the change as a band to come over to the states from Sydney Australia and start from scratch. We risked it all and took a chance. We’re very glad we did.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Can you spill any info about the video for “Maybe?”

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
Travis Kopach directed it, it’s a about two people, a guy and girl who aren’t happy with their lives and where they’re at and they decide to make a change.

THE STAR SCOOP:
For fans of “Maybe,” what other songs of yours do you recommend they listen to?

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
In terms of the type of song it’s more of a softer rock song so I’d say “All The Same”, “Don’t Walk Away,” “White Balloons” and “Odd One.”

THE STAR SCOOP:
What’s the story behind your name, “Sick Puppies?”

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
Shim had thought of Sick Puppies while we were both brainstorming names for the band and we were still unsure of it so that day he took a trip up the coast to see his Dad back when we were in Sydney and when he met up with him his dad was like “how about Sick Puppies”? Shim called me and told me about the coincidence and we both thought it was a sign so we went with it for the time being and haven’t looked back since!

Three things fans should know about you are…?

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
We are a trio, none of us have any tattoos and we all love Rage Against The Machine.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us more about your involvement in “Rock Prophecies.”

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
Rock Prophecies is a rock documentary about a photographer named Robert Knight.

Robert was one of the first people we connected with at the beginning of us coming over to the states, he filmed us moving into our first apartment, recording our first US album “Dressed Up As Life” and he also came on the road and filmed one of our first tours, he featured us in Rock Prophecies as a new upcoming band amongst the likes of Slash, Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix and many more so we weren’t super stoked he us in the film!

Why did you decide to use the YouTube Moderator application?

EMMA of THE SICK PUPPIES:
Just recently, we’re happy to have the avenues we have now that allow us to do this sort of thing as a band. Something we didn’t have when we were kids.
