Ok, I always have writers block with lyrics, but for once, I came up with a whole song. The problem is... I have writer's block on the frikken guitar now! I'm posting the lyrics, and I want you guys to help me out on getting a guitar part down!
(Please don't steal my lyrics, I'm planning on using them to get famous so I can tour with the pups so I can knock on their bus door at 3:00 AM so I can beg to hang out with them)
I've kept this bottled up inside
For far too long
You've been the catalyst of my anger
You've been my foil for far too long
I've shut my mouth, I've held my tongue
For far too long but now I'm done
I feel my rage build up inside
Apathy's worn off this time
You've set me off this time
Now it's your life you will defend
You're life's worth nothing (You're breaking)
This time it's the end
What's this worth to you
Is it so important to you
Is your pride really worth
The pain that's to come
You've pushed me as far as I'll go
I've held in as much as I'll hold
Is your pride really worth
The pain that's to come
You've set me off this time
Now it's your life you will defend
You're life's worth nothing (You're breaking)
This time it's the end
I see straight through your lies
You do nothing but pretend
Your life's worth nothing now
This time it's the end
You're the catalyst to my anger
You've been my foil for far too long
You're nothin', you're broken
And now you're gone
You've set me off this time
Now it's your life you will defend
You're life's worth nothing (You're breaking)
This time it's the end
You've set me off too much
You've pushed me way too much
And I think you've lost your mind
If you think you'll win this time
We've gone as far as we'll go
And this time I think you'll know
You shouldn't have picked this fight
You're gonna lose tonight
There it is! I want the music for it to be kinda like heavy SP, TDG, or BB. I don't have much in mind.
And tell me what you think of the lyrics themselves too, please!
Need help!

The next time they stop outside my f*cking house, I'm gonna drag them out the back door and...
*KnockKnock*
Who's there?
Max.
Max? Max who?
Makes no difference OPEN THE DOOR!
I lost the game.

Re: Need help!
Haha I like the lyrics, I can see the inspiration in them
As for composing... ah it's hard... just start messing with some riffs you have and see if they'd go good as transitions or intros. I always have the problem of making awesome intros and pre-verse riffs, but after that it gets hard haha.
The standard way of setting chords to lyrics I've seen is using major chords for main or happier lyrics, and minor chords for sad or transitional lyrics.
Try and fit what you come up with to the melody or pitch you have for the lyrics, if you have that already. If you do, you can try messing around with fretting and chords in the same pitch as the vocals, or at least close or octaved.
Time signature would probably work with 4/4, with variations of course... maybe somewhere around 180 bpm or a little slower.
It's all how you want it to feel, good luck!

Re: Need help!
Yes, definitely helped! I use more power chords than full chords, and I enjoy sus-chords for verses, so I had to work to make them minor. The verse is made out of a haunting quiet riff I made out of some screwed up sus-chords figurings I came up with awhile back, and the chorus is made out of some power chords and single note overdubs in a slightly minor key =3
Now, for a kick-ass bridge...

Re: Need help!
Haha very cool, at least you have progress on it! Yeah power chords and chords are useful when composing... whatever is more natural or sounds best I suppose haha.
Well looks like you have good progress, good luck with the rest of it
Whatever is the most like you I think is your best bet, so if you like sus-chords and power chords most, go with that. That way it's more original and specific haha.
But if you do get stuck, you can mess around with the other stuff too
