A Poem of a Veterans Personal War

I dreamt of you while I was there
Now I dream of there while I’m here
What’s left for us is forgotten
Just like my brothers that have fallen
Now that were here you are gone
While I was there you were done
Words still can cut to the bone
Never spoken
No parade for the fallen
I’ve spent days re-living tormenting dread
Sometimes it feels, it was someone else’s head
A letter brought you to this place
Still the war fills this space
Yeah
Now that we can be face to face
And now that all the cheering’s gone
No more parades for the fallen
Your gone
Yeah
I dreamt of you while I was there
Now I dream of there while I’m here
What’s left for us is forgotten
Just like my brothers that have fallen
Now that were here you are gone
While I was there you were done
Words that can cut to the bone
Never spoken
No parade for the fallen
