Every time I return here
I step into a different river.
Beneath the hardened shell of self-righteousness
that hides my shame and inadequacy
I'm really just very grateful to be here,
to be drifting along in your current.
It's like Rumi said:
The way of love is not
a subtle argument.
How do birds learn to fly?
They fall, and falling,
they're given wings.
I step into a different river.
Beneath the hardened shell of self-righteousness
that hides my shame and inadequacy
I'm really just very grateful to be here,
to be drifting along in your current.
