Re: Tattoos
Even if you have anything you want touched up or added to I'm sure they'd only charge you the same as if they would for just the small tattoo. Cassie got her foot touched up when she got her white balloons tattoo and Nick didn't charge her at all for it. Just an idea...I know on Long Island the minimum is like $80, 'cause Cassie's Aunt's ex-girlfriend had a tiny Chinese symbol in black on her wrist that cost that much. Tattoos in general seem to be more expensive in New York...I paid that much for mine at Electric City and it's probably four times the size.

Re: Tattoos
The minimum price on tattoos in tattoo shops is for many reasons. The shop itself gets a part of the money that every tattoo costs to cover certain materails that all the tattoo artists need like sanitization spray and gloves and also so the owner can make money as well. The rest goes to the artist. This has to cover things like the needles, ink, patroluem jelly, ink caps and if the artist uses disposable tubes he/she has to buy them as well. After all that is figured in the artist is probably only making about $5 on a small tattoo like that.
You also have to remember that tattoo artists don't get paid by the hour but only by the tattoo. If they don't do a single tattoo that month they don't make any money.

Re: Tattoos
My first time actually replying to this thread... I have to say a lot of you have some really awesome tattoos! I don't have any myself... yet. I do want one though, just having a lot of trouble deciding what I want. I'm debating between something small/medium size on my ankle, or a line of lyrics on my foot. I really want something relating to SP, but I don't want something common like the tri-polar rings, so that's where my trouble deciding is. For awhile I wanted to get the pre-chorus of Rise Against's track Ready To Fall, and I'd only picked my foot because of what the lyrics said (Wings won't take me / Heights don't phase me / So take a step / But don't look down / Take a step) just because I -love- that song, and I particularly like that quote from it... but I don't know.

Re: Tattoos
Wow, tats seem to be cheaper over there... I paid around 180- 200 € (245 - 272 $) for the one around my ankle and 170 € (232 $) for the black one with flowers on my shoulder blade. But I have to admit that I made a fixed price when I arrived for the second tat. I just told her I'm only able to pay 170 € and she said ok. Afterwards she told me that she normally needed much more money for it, but since we made a fixed price it's ok with her. She also told me that she wanted me to have a nice tat that she likes and not something half-done... You know, it was my 2nd tat there and my sister got her old one covered there and also got half of her arm stabbed there...
You know, she is awesome and worth the price. To get a date you have to wait 1 year minimum these days! When I wanna have another date there, I can call this October (and she told me that in December...) to get a date next summer... What I like there is that she is stabbing really well! And she takes all the time she needs. My two tats she designed on my skin. So all in all my first tat took 5 or 6 hours and the second 3 or 4... And that's the cause tats sometimes cost a lot. The fixed costs, the time, the materials, etc.

Re: Tattoos
Hehe, you know, she's just that good at her job. And she always gets more and more pupular because of all her satisfied customers. And mouth-to-mouth propaganda always helps... =) And believe me, every day of waiting is worth it! =)
And about the time... She designs the tat on your skin directly, then she removes some parts, then she designs new.. and removes again and so on and so on...
Until she thinks the result is really ok. And then she asks you. And if you say you don't like it that way she starts again... =) (i liked both my tats immediately though)

Re: Tattoos
I got my tattoo a couple months after turning 16.. i wanted an eagle, but didn't want just the typical bird. Since the ramones logo is an eagle, i got that (not the circle around it, just the eagle holding the arrows and branch) on my lower right back.. i love it.

Re: Tattoos
I was eating at McDonald's today and it was warm enough that I was only wearing shorts and a t-shirt so most of my tatts were exposed. When I sat down an old lady that works there would walk past me from time to time and she would shake her head and mumble to herself "That's not right." Normally I would just shrug it off but by the fifth time she did walked by me mumbling it got under my skin. I was really tempted at one point to start talking to her but I knew that would accomplish nothing.
