Unread postby dressedupaslife » 06 May 2008 18:19

Seems as if there are a growing number of members that are Irish or have Irish heritage. This is just a thread where we can all come meet and chat it up. All crew mwmbers are welcome of course. I'm Welsh/Irish so I thought it would be awesome to meet more from my ancestral homeland that share the same passion for the Sick Puppies as I do. ;D

But this is my favorite part
Come away O human child to the waters and the wild
with a farey hand in hand for the
world is more full of weeping than you can understand

.

Away with us he's going,
The solemn-eyed:
He'll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast,
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.
For he comes, the human child,
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand

that is my favoirte part!!
plus it has great imagry

This is one of my favorites by WB Yeats.... I can see myself sitting on the porch of that cabin, in peace and solitude.

The Lake Isle of Innisfree

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

WB Yeats

yea this is why Nova Scotians have the reputation that we can drink a lot, because the stereotypical irish person drinks a lot, haha.
like if we go to Montreal or somewhere, they treat you like gods when it comes to drinking, hahaha

I am half Irish, and the other half is a mix of everything else I am, but it's mostly Irish. My last name is Hogan. I am proud of my heriage, I bought a huge Irish flag and hung it on my ceiling.

London,

You're kidding right? My grandma's last name is Doyle, from the clan Doyle in Ireland. Do you know what your family Coat of Arms looks like by chance? Does it look like this maybe, lol ?

I guess I count as a UK member... Not Irish or even of Irish heritage, although I'm sure some of my ancestors made sure to pass their genes into the Irish gene pool. (The Vikings got about about a bit...)

I've been to Ireland though, and absolutely love it. I have some really good friends that are Irish too.

WOW, lol OK, I hardly know any Irish at all. Other than the common everyday phrases needed when traveling over there. Such as ...Conas ata tu? Which of course translated is...How are you...and the typical reply is...Ta me are meisce...which means...I am very drunk!!! hahahaha. ;D

I suppose I count as Irish. My father is of Irish decent and we're both Irish citizens.
I can pretty much only say "How are you?" "Come in" and "Welcome" in Irish, but I'd really like to learn how to speak it properly.
