Countdown to My TRUE Freedom!!

What most people aren't told when they sign a military contract is that the contract is for 8 years not the 2-6 years of active service the person signed up for. The time not spent inn active service is spent being in the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR). It is the reason why the Army and Marines can retain people after their "contract" has expired. While in the IRR a person can be recalled to full active service and they can't do anything about it except serve whatever time the military wants them to serve.
In 14 days I'll have signed my contract with the Navy 8 years ago and be officially out of the IRR and the Navy. This means that I'll never be able to be recalled for any reason.
One of the main reasons that I actually joined the Navy at the time was because I was tired with school and I really wanted to get away from home. I didn't want to just drop out of school and do a normal job so I decided to do something where I knew I would be able to go back to school easily if I decided to go back. I would actually recommend the Air Force or the Navy to anyone that wants to get away from home and be able to go to school when they are finished with their active service, since the Air Force and Navy don't really retain anyone for the full 8 year contract like the Army or Marines do.
