So what's on the Rider????

For those who don't know what a Rider is ... basically it's a list of items a band is requesting from the promoter or venue.

When on tour the band/crew don't have time to go SHOPPING (yes the horror) for little things like water, soap, cereal, whatever. If they need something that day they request it on what's called a rider.

Most bands take it seriously as they will be billed back for it. A few bigger bands have been know to ask for ridiculous demands such as ... we want M&Ms but ONLY BLUE ones or something like that.

Anyways. Here is a funny story i saw on Pollstar. Thought i should share it with you guys:

Promoters who’ve grown weary of the excessive and often ridiculous demands some bands make on their contract riders may be cheered by the way the Eurosonic-Noorderslag production team dealt with a Danish duo that asked for a horse.
Somewhat bemused as to why the act needed the animal in the middle of a Dutch city in the middle of the night, Eurosonic talent booker Robert Meijerink passed the information to his backstage staff with an instruction to deal with it as best they could.
When the folksy young ladies of My Bubba & Mi arrived at Groningen’s USVA venue Jan. 13, where they were playing a showcase as part of the European Talent Exchange Programme, they were told that a note had been left for them.
This is the gist of what it said: “Dear My Bubba & Mi. I arrived earlier and hung around waiting for you for over two hours.
“Then I had to leave to go on to my next engagement. To show that I did actually turn up, I’ve left ‘the droppings’ I made while I was here.”
Along with the note the nag had left, the act was given a plastic bag full of horse manure.

.... Moral of the story??? CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR (on your rider!!!!!!!! Cause you just might get it )

I would ask for:
Bottled spring water (none of the filtered stuff)
Twizzlers
Pocky (tried them recently and they are awesome!)
Bubble breeze ice cube gum
A bottle of Malibu rum

I love reading the stories about the outrageous things bands have asked for. I think for a time there it seemed like each band was trying to out do each other. So is Vegimite and Miso on the rider G?

Vegimite is not on the rider but we always always always have it on hand (so i guess it would go on the rider if we are ever short .)

I'm not sure what I'd have on mine. I guess water would be needed, but I'm not particular...I'll just drink tap water. Unless I'm in the south, the water tastes funny there.

Cheese or veggie pizza
Grey Goose vodka
Sprite (to mix with the vodka)
Sugar Free Red Bull (also to mix with the vodka)
And I think I'll steal Jessamy's idea for ibruprofen, I'm an ibruprofen junkie.

Well if we HAVE to stick with food I would go with the following:

1. A bag of Dove milk chocolate caramels
2. Case of bottle spring water
3. Mike's Hard Lemonade Light (My foo foo drink haha)
4. Mint chip ice cream
5. ?? (I'd say a pizza but I am really particular about that and there aren't a Godfather's Pizza, Little Caesar's Pizza, or Pizza Hut in every city.)

Earplugs aren't a food obviously but I would want that too along with a comfy couch.

I wouldn't say a vibrator. I definitely wouldn't want to use one that wasn't mine. I mean geez I don't even want to think about the things that could be on that. (perhaps batteries though )

I have Godfather's Pizza whenever I want...I work in one of those huge gas stations that has "fresh" food...we have Godfather's, Blimpie's, and Dunkin' Donuts
