How did the Sick Puppies get their name??

Speaking of awesome expanations, you know everybody loves Anywhere But Here, I always really loved this song, I might even say it's my favorite track off of DUAL. ABH has gotten me through so many hard times in my life. After hearing this, I can't listen to this song without thinking about what Shim talks about here.

just incase anybody doesnt click on the youtube link, shim explains that the band name was from a book his dad was reading called "sick puppies" he doesnt know the authors name though.

so the garage story may be another reason? or perhaps happened shortly afterwards which confirmed the name?

^ I thought the same thing! I remember hearing the whole dog throwing up one, and thinking, wait a second, I swear Shim said before that his dad suggested the name whilre reading the book Sick Puppy.

I beleive the author is Carl Hiassen. He writes mostly mystery type books with some wry humor. I read a book by him called "The downhill lie" it was about him going back to golf in his late 50's after quitting 30 years earlier. it was pretty funny especially if you golf because he went thru the same self torture that all us amatuer golfers go thru!!

Well on the youtube link, he explains that he was on a train one day and it popped into his head as a possible band name and he wrote it on his hand, then when he got home his dad mentioned the book. He took the coincidence as an omen. My guess is that the train ride was shortly after that practice.

I was cruising the media forum and found another reference to how they pick Sick Puppies as their name.

EPI: OK... I have to ask... How did you come up with the name Sick Puppies?

SHIMON: We all had pages of names and one day, I was on my way to see my dad and thought of it and wrote it on my page. Then when I arrived, my dad suggested it to me because he was reading a book of the same name. So... it was quite a sign.
