Well, I only have one pciture so far of me and Shim and I will def have more after August 3rd... But I hope that he reads this and knows that He has become an inspiration to me with everything that he has gone through. He carried enough emotional baggage that could crush someone to death... I know what thats like because I am still going through it and I am currently in the process of writing my first EP (Which we start recording next month!) and I hope that maybe He will take a listen to it and like it the same way I liked his stuff when I first heard it. Shimon is awsome person, a big heart, and is talented in more than one way!

Hey guys,
Im in the back lounge of the bus listening to another OZ artist you may not have heard of. Missy Higgins.
She does more blues and roots music. Its nice to listen to as i sit by the window and watch the world exist.
Been a rough coupla days. Got sick the day before yesterday and had to play a show. now everyone else on the bus is getting it. we're all downing the Echinacia and trying to sleep but its a bumpy drive to Poughkeepsie, New York.
I heard a few of you guys are looking forward to the show there. me too.
Question, how often do u really think about what brings us to this point? Like who made the computer your reading this on. then who went back and moulded the plastic and metal. then who mined the necessary oar and minerals to make that.
and who made the food the miner ate for lunch that gave him the energy to do that. and who planted the seeds for that food. And where did they get them?
I don't think about this stuff enough. take everything for granted. especially friends.
When you get up from your computer to do something. Whatever it may be, pay attention to what you doing for a moment. See what happens.... :)

- Keep Breathing -

Shim

Shim, I think about that stuff alot everyday... It kinda makes sense though dont it? Like how we got his far in this world with people willing to go above and beyond to do that they do... guitar makers, computer makers, etc have all been working hard for this world to get us where we are today and we honestly shouldn't take that for granted... Also, If you read this shim, I'm going to be at X-Fest in Duluth, MN with some friends I have converted into SP Fans!

Ah hell....who doesn't think about that..Why am i here? What is my purpose?? Am i destined to be something better than i am now?? Is this what my life is all about?? Why is there a hair in my mac and cheese? I know i think about that kinda thing. I get up in the morning, go to work, come home, sit on my ass, go to sleep...repeat cycle. Everyone does it, but many don't think about how much of a grind their life has become and simply don't enjoy it. It can be tough.

A year goes by....another friend dies...a year goes by...another relative passes....and you are supposed to be happy that they are in a better place. Well f*ck that. I'm pissed that they are gone.

Last year, my grandfather had cancer and he had gotten very ill. My father had flown up from Florida to be with him, as I left Michigan to be with my father b/c i wanted to be there for him. The first night i stayed at my grandparents I could hear my grandfather dieing. Talking and yelling at people who weren't there as he was a shell of the tough man that i always new. The second night, i had to leave, b/c i couldn't take hearing and seeing my grandfather dieing. I stayed at a hotel. He died that morning at 8am. My father actually closed my grandfathers eyes after he died, and had stayed with him the whole night till he passed.

When my father told me all of this...i started to think...what if that was me and my father was the one dieing? Would i be strong enough or be able to deal with that to do what he did? My mother died when i was 13. I couldn't bear the thought of actually losing him too. At the funeral...i was a pallbearer. As i carried my grandfather's casket to his final resting place...that is when i realized what i was doing as i was kinda in shock. We set the casket down...and i look across and see my father just absolutely crushed. I could see the pain in his eyes. That is when i lost it. It was really to much to take. It's sad when u know that someday you will be seeing your own father being put to rest. You will have to sit there and watch him go, knowing that u will never see him again. That will be a day i will always dread.

I dunno...i know i'm kinda rambling...and yes i've had a couple drinks....but i'll type this now and feel like an ass later..lol....

Don't take your mother or father for granted. They won't always be there for you. Enjoy every moment you have with them.

I know when i was younger...i used to think my old man was a complete a-hole. But he wasn't. I was just young and stupid. The older you get, the more you realize how right you parents were about things.

And finally.......in closing...ha ha :D

Shim....your music is an inspiration to all of us (as i speak for everyone on this board unappointed..:P)...i hope we can be as much of an inspiration to you.

Shim,

You really put things into perspective... I certainly try not to but I think we all take things for granted whether we realize it or not.

I wish I could go to the show in Poughkeepsie, but I will see you soon enough. I hope you, and everyone else, feel better soon.

Hey Shim... I hope you guys are feeling better real soon - I can't imagine feeling like crap and having to get up , go out on that stage and perform ..you are all amazing and definitely an inspiration on so many levels. I am super excited for the show in NY ...but not so excited for the bumpy drive
And I have to say that I think about those things alot....I know I definitely wonder about my purpose here on earth and where the journey will ultimately lead us....I think about how much I would love to be able to change certain things in the world and end some of the sadness in this world like feed all the starving children, shelter the abused and unwanted animals, find cures to so many devastating diseases...I think I've rambled here but what you wrote just made me think even more about some of the things that I think of often....this world is not always an easy place to live in but it can make us appreciate those who are close to us even more..and definitely take a moment to just sit back, breathe and listen
Hope you all get get a good night's sleep and feel better tomorrow ..looking very forward to seeing you guys

Shim,

That was deep. It was great seeing you the last few days. I hope you are feeling better. I love you avatar!!

That other story made me think about when my Dad died as well. I was 17. We had a summer house and he went up there for the night and never answered the phone or anything when my mom called so she went up and found him and he had a heart attack. It was the worst day of my life!! The 8 year anniversary of that was actually a few weeks ago. It is soo hard when that happens, and it does get easier, but it never fully goes away.

Shim: You don't like Rage Against the Machine?
Me: I like one song.
Shim: Which one?
Me: Bulls on Parade.
