Those cookies rule. I was at a hotel once and had the good fortune to have been sitting in the main lobby just as they put a plate of warm, fresh, still-melty chocolate chips out :D

I am sure that when the record gets here, we will all be gratified :D

Thanks for the update! Hope you guys have a great holiday

Ok, Christmas day and needless to say we are all most thankful to you guys for all the help and work you do with us.
I hope you guys are safe and happy and enjoying the finer things in life. I will be for the next 18 hours before we roll back into the songwriting.
Lemme ask you guys a good constructive question...
Out of the songs that you've heard
what do you respond to the most LYRICALLY
As we write lyrics, I write something that i feel. But I'm also interested in what you guys dig the most.
So lemme know.
Have a happy holidays and keep in touch
Luv Shim

I usually like lyrics that describe how the writer actually feels, because then if you can relate to them it makes it much more amazing since there's mutual feelings and thus a special connection. ^_^

....however I do love those songs that describe a certain someone, 2 or more individuals, a story, etc. (i.e. Howard's Tale)

"Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you."

I would have to say that the 2 songs I feel the most emotion from and can relate to from DUAL are Cancer and All the Same. Cancer is probably the most perfect song to describe what is happening in our world today .

A couple songs from other artists that I think are amazing and meaningful (at least to me ) would be Silent all these years by Tori Amos and Incomplete by Alanis Morrisette.

There are so many bands out there who write the lyrics just because they think it will sell a record and then there are the few (amazing) bands that write their lyrics from their heart and soul , their personal experiences . Sick Puppies is one of those rarities  When those songs are then performed live on stage before hundreds of people and you can feel that depth of emotion emanating from the band it is almost impossible not to feel something in your own heart - to relate to the song lyrics in your own way , because of your own life experiences.

Currently, Killing Myself for Christmas. The rest of the year I love the lyrics to Pitiful. :) The one subject matter that would really hit me hard would be something involving how anxiety can just stop you from living (if you let it). Maybe I'm not listening to the right bands, but I don't think I've heard too many songs about anxiety.

Merry Christmas Shim! Hoping you got lots of goodies. :) Whoppers included, of coarse.

I agree with Serge in saying that lyrics that sing to me are ones that describe how the songwriter is feeling.

Anywhere But Here and My World are probably 2 of the closest to me. All the Same is up there too..

Lyrically....Cancer and My World. As Donna said, Cancer really sums up what a lot of people feel about the world today. And My World...I think anyone who's suffered a loss can relate to it. All The Same is up there, too.

The song I am the least attached to lyrically is Asshole Father.

Oops! forgot to type what was initially asked.

As far as songs I respond to the most lyrically, I'd have to say "What Are You Looking For?", "My World", and "Too Many Words"

"Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you."

I'd have to say that My World and Howard's Tale appeal to me the most, lyrically. There is an intensity and honesty that radiates from those two songs (both on DUAL and live) and they feel the most real to me. Though the subject matter may be difficult for some, the way it is handled lyrically is what draws me in.
I hope that made sense... it made sense in my head...

Merry Christmas, Shim!

My personal fave is Anywhere But Here - who can't relate to the lyrics in that one? I also especially love my world and Cancer...

You know I'd also have to go with Cancer, Any Where But Here, and All the Same. They each could be the background music to my life on certain days

Howard's Tale would definitely have to get my vote. It's a great story that was amazingly written and well put together and with the drop off at the end...it leaves you craving for more.

The songs i respond to the most are the ones i can relate to at a given time, and usually other people can too. I usually listen to songs that describe how i'm feeling at the moment.
My World and Anywhere but Here are definitely the ones i can relate to the most, and have helped me plenty times.
