We KNEW this would be THE year!!!

All the hype surrounding the release of Tri-Polar was so exciting in the very beginning because I know we were ALL pumped up for it, and we all knew (as if we had psychic powers) that this would be something special. Well the night before last I really, REALLY got to see proof of that....
The last time I saw the band was in July right before the album was released. The CD Launch Party and Pomona, CA shows were awesome simply because of their locations. The last show (in Bakersfield, CA) was in a pizza joint down in the basement! The place was packed, but this isn't what I'm referring to when speaking of their success. The night before last (a little over 2 months later) I saw and heard something that absolutely blew me away (and actually brought tears to my eyes, to be honest). When waiting for the opening bands I heard someone a few people down from me say "Most people are here for Sick Puppies or Shinedown". Normally, that's NOT something I would expect to hear at a show where Shinedown is the sole headlining act! If it were co-headlining, yeah... But to hear someone say that when the band isn't even on the main bill just brought a huge smile to my face! Then when Pitiful came on and the moshing started, I never thought being squished against the railing would ever feel so good My sunglasses got destroyed, but it's well worth it!
The main reason I am writing this is what happened next. When Shim announced they had one song left and it was time for me to make my way to the merch booth to do the newsletter signups. The last song they played was You're Going Down and as I was making my way through the crowded floor, I am SO glad I had my boyfriend's hand to guide me because I was absolutely awestruck. Almost every single person on that floor was singing along and had their hands in the air! I have never seen such a beautiful thing! I had to stop by the doors to take a short video of the crowd even lol Then when we got to the merch booth and there were people waiting there already, I got all warm and fuzzy inside These people were here for Sick Puppies when Sick Puppies were just an opening band. People were even leaving after their set! I felt so very glad at that moment to be part of this amazing family we have here. I've never worn my badge with as much pride as I did that night.
Ladies and gentlemen. This IS the year for Sick Puppies. The journey's been a long one, but we are in the fast lane now and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon...
