Our drummer commented on how prior to a show he wants to sit down, chill out and get mentally ready for the show so he can have fun and do his best onstage for the crowd and their fans. We’ve all had the conversation before about how shows are mentally and physically draining for them, and just how tired they are after they get offstage. After a show they want to pack up their gear, interact with fans, go home and sleep. They interact with their friends, fans and new fans that come up to them despite being drained. I’m a huge music and concert fan, and the wear/tear on a band and its members is something I already knew and was well aware of.
One of the many reasons I love the Sick Puppies as much as I do is the constant respect and admiration they show their fans both on this forum and at shows.
I LOVE music and many of the bands I love don’t do signing and meet/greets right after they get offstage. Emma, Mark and Shim, when able, do. The statement above reminded me of how, even on a local level, the stress of a show can place on a performer. They keep doing it because they love it wholeheartedly. Now....(that stress and drain) lets multiply that, as well as multiplying the numbers of fans standing in line awaiting the chance to meet their favorite band by......a lot.
Now let’s add consistent travel and rarely being home with friends/family to that tally, and not to forget a busy schedule of interviews, promo and anything else under then sun (did I mention the tour bus "beds"?). SP goes online when they are able to interact with fans and answer our questions, something not normal for fan forums. They come off stage and sign whatever is placed in front of them, and take photos with fans when able. They obviously treat their fans with a respect not always seen in performers.
SP loves what they do, and it shows in everyway.
Thank you Mark, Emma and Shim for constantly being so wonderful to your fans, for producing music that has affected us all in some way, shape or form, and for rocking out onstage and giving your fans something to always remember.
O...and a public thank you to SPWC and all who oversee it for providing an awesome avenue for both the band and their fans. I not only have a huge respect for this band, but a HUGE level of respect for you as well and I thought I'd state it.
This band goes above & beyond to connect with their fans, always totally rock out onstage, and deserve to have tons of success. Thank you Shim, Emma, & Mark!!!
