BOOKING SICK PUPPIES FOR COMMUNITY EVENT
Posted: 04 Feb 2010 12:45
With things like the FREE HUGS video, etc Sick Puppies definitely instill a sense of togetherness. Fans sticking together to promote the band. I have an idea. Any1 know how much it costs to book the sick puppies?? Our town hosts a Mayor's Cup Regatta every year around the 4th of July. Sick Puppies play at Higher Ground VT which is 1 1/2 hrs from Plattsburgh,NY where I live and work. We have a crete civic center that gets no use for bands, just ice skating and things like that in the winter. We have a downtown stage sponsored by local business's and they host bands there during the summer. An irish band Gaelic Storm played there one year and it was awesome. Our last mayor was very involved with the community having plays and bands and lots of activities going on. BUT after his term, he basically pissed away all our towns money. This year it looks like they are going to try to get back to the way it used to be with fireworks and work on activities for the downtown again because there used to be rides and singing contests and people would travel from the next states over for this whole week long event. Once the mayor took all the money, the events the town were putting on turned into a big waste and only a 2 day event. I think it would be an EPIC idea if the pups could play at our Mayor's Cup Regatta. There is a meeting at city hall tomorrow at noonish that I am going to attend, but maybe my thoughts will fall upon deaf ears if they are all 50yr old rotary members attending. I think it would be great if they could play on the downtown stage but I understand if security reasons etc. prohibit it. There would be plenty of room for security at our civic center.
