When I was 14, I had a really crappy year.
I developed Anexity and depression.
I also heard "Nothing really matters" for the first time. (Thank you, MySpace.)
I fell in love with the band and went out to buy their CD
Being 14, I had no idea what the lyrics were. But I did understand "Not much left to live for, there's not much left to be. Nothing really matters, Really matters to me."
And I interpreted that as "Screw it" and did my own thing. The music helped. I constantly played it. I stopped having frequency panic attacks and when I felt upset I listened to Dressed up as life. When I was 16 things took a turn for the worst, and I tried to do something bad to myself. Moments after starting to do said bad thing, my computer started playing "Riptide" on random, and I paused to listen.
"Crazy is just fine, cause I like where I'm going." really stuck out to me then.
I put my stuff down, I turned up the music, cleaned myself up, and smiled.
And right now, 2 years later,
I'd like to say Thank you.
To Sick Puppies, Shim, Mark, and Emma, for saving my life.
its a big thing for me to say this.
