Anywhere But Here
I held onto you for as long as I could but today
You fell away
Now what I hold are the memories we barely made
I stood on the edge of your bridge until I felt the rain
Wash me away
My confusion left me fast as the vertigo came
What I believed to be true it was only a dream
That lived in me
I just projected it over your beautiful screen
I self medicated my way through this mess that we made
So I could stay
There was nothing, but I waited
I waited
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
So I will be traveling any place
Cause anywhere's better than
Here we rest in peace
Rubble beneath the feet
I shouldn't have followed you anywhere
Cause anywhere's better than here
Where is the space I could move, where could I rest my head
There's nothing left for me here
It's hard to leave behind
The one thing that made me feel alive
So I slide
From paranoid to paralyzed
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
So I will be traveling any place
Cause anywhere's better than here
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
Here we rest in peace
Rubble beneath the feet
I shouldn't have followed you anywhere
Cause anywhere's better than here

I have a question... in the "Dressed Up As Life" lyrics packet for this song, it goes "I waited, I waited" and then it has "If I was a masochist" or something like that (the font's hard to read) underneath. Is that even in the song? What's it doing there?

That's a really good question and I don't have an answer, but that's a great thing to put in the "ask the band" section.

...but I already used my monthly question.
Or can I do it for April even though I did my March question about two days ago?

I saw the "if I was a masochist" in the book as well but I don't hear it in the actual song.
My favorite parts are when they are all harmonizing together on the chrous. I think it would be cool if Emma and Mark had some solo singing parts in the next CD!

yep...that is one of the big differences between some of the bands out there and the SP..each of these songs has meaning behind them and they are basically stories being told that can be related to in some shape or form by whomever is listening to them. Some of the lyrics in some of the songs actually give me goosebumps .. you can feel the emotion flow right out of your speakers.
ps..
thanks Susanna !!

This song gave me goosebumps the first time I listened to it and every time I hear it. While after watching the video of what the lyrics actually mean, they definitely dont mean that for me. They are very powerful for me and I can relate to them in a different sense. It is a very powerful song for me.

I loved this song before I even knew the meaning behind it , after I heard the youtube video with Shim explaining it I love it even more on whole different level-a truly amazing and emotional song.

This is the most beautiful song. I absolutely love it, especially when Emma comes in on the chorus. It was even more amazing Live, I'll never forget it.

For me, this song conveys the same message as All American Rejects' "Move Along", but with a bitter twist.
I love the way Shimone's voice quivers on "rain".

^HaHa pwns........ I always thought that it would be kind of funny if when they played this song live they said "This next song is called 'Anywhere But Here' and its about where we'd like to be playing" You know as a joke.
