Yar, I was at this one! Fantastic concert for sure.
There were a couple local bands at first, one I recognized because I knew 3 of the members, another one I didn't recognize, and then Janus came out, and I didn't know any of their songs either. So I was just kinda chillin out on the bleachers in the back. But then....Sick Puppies came out, and I was right up in there. Woo. Well, not right up in there; I've only been to one concert before, and I got pushed around a ton, so I was kinda near the back this time, but whatever I do have a greater respect for mosh pits now though.
I had a friend and my bro in tow with me (made my bro drive 2.5 hours up here for it =D) and they didn't know quite as many songs as I did, but I let my friend borrow Tri-Polar a couple weeks before the concert so he did know some stuff. Makes the concert so much more enjoyable when you know the songs in my opinion. I had an absolute blast though, one of the funnest times I've had in a long long time. I thought Shimon had pretty good crowd control, and the crowd just erupted when they played You're Going Down. I couldn't even hear myself think everyone was singing so loud. It was an amazing clincher.
Then Sick Puppies went off and there was a lull until Papa Roach came out, so I decided to go get something signed by them. I was going to get the shirt that I bought signed, but that seemed silly as then I'd never wear it, so I bought a Tri-Polar/Live & Unplugged EP CD/EP poster combo because I wanted the poster, which they signed off on.
That part could have gone a bit better....I get up there to where they're all signing stuff and Shimon shakes my hand and asks if I had fun. And for some reason I was really nervous and didn't know what to say and was like "f*ck me, I mean...yeah, that was the most fun I've had in...uh..." and he just kinda looked at me funny and I got pushed down the line. Emma was busy talking to someone in front of me, and Mark was listening to that convo as well so I didn't get to talk to them. I'm such an awkward person. I don't even know why I said that...I never say that. Oh well, they signed my poster and I shook Shim's hand~
So I get back out to the concert area and me up with my brother and and friend and my bro says 'Hey lookit this' and hands me this big beaded bracelet. And he says that chick threw it off the stage before she got off. And I'm like Emma....th..the bassist threw this? O_O And my friend mentions the look on my face was the one he had when he touched Angelina Love (as we had just gone to a TNA event the previous weekend). And I put it in my pocket so I wouldn't lose it but like omg I can't believe I got something that Emma had! I've never had anything from a band before, so...kind of a big deal for me =D
After what seemed like a huge wait Papa Roach came out, and man can they put on a good concert. I wasn't super familiar with a ton of their songs despite that I had bought their first 3 CDs to get to know them better before I went. They played a lot of stuff from their new CD, and in my opinion they've kinda been going downhill since Getting Away with Murder, although it was still a crazy concert; complete with a wall of death where some guy broke his tooth on some other guys head.
Basically, it was awesoooooooome. I guess Sick Puppies were out there after the whole thing was over and you could get a picture with them, but I was unaware of this and left Oh well, I got Emma's bracelet =D
Well. That's about it. Fun stuff, I really can't wait to go to another Sick Puppies concert, hopefully one where they're the main event. This was just really exciting since they came to my hometown and usually to go do or see anything you have to drive 2 hours+ to get there. I hope they come around here again soon though, even something where I'd have to drive would be fine. It'd be worth it.
