Ambassadors?

not exactly sure if this belongs here.
but i would like to ask current ambassadors what exactly the title entails as well as what theyve done with it and to others here who arent ambassadors: why not?

It is a great way to help support the band you love and you can receive some amazing opportunities amongst other things in return ! It does require passion and dedication (plus at least 1 hour of your time a week) but it is well worth it

Hmm...what I do is a little different than a normal ambassador, but I can say that most of the duties are online promoting. There are general projects that we work on, like radio requests, submitting reviews on various sites of the albums/singles, doing the weekly RateTheMusic.com surveys, etc. Then everyone is divided into teams. There is a team that strictly makes graphics. Whether for Sickpuppies.net, their MySpace, the forum, "Ambassador of the month" graphics and so on. Other teams of ambassadors run MySpace, Facebook, LastFM, Youtube, and every social networking site you can imagine. They keep them up to date with news, photos, tour dates and general info. Other teams work directly with ambassadors, making sure people are keeping on top of their duties, making them feel welcome, etc.

Ambassadors also help out at shows by hanging posters, selling CDs, getting names/numbers on the email sign up sheet and handing out stickers.

It does involve a lot of dedication. If someone isn't holding up their end of the bargain, they will be demoted. It's not fair to the ambassadors who work hard that others who don't get the same perks (sometimes free tickets, meet and greets, band member's birthday parties....whatever). We are selective about who becomes an ambassador, hence the screening process and point requirements. We represent the band directly. And it involves a lot of work to add new ambassadors and remove them. (a lot of people don't realize this...but it IS tedious).

It's fun, and you find yourself making some great lasting friendships. The ambassador forums are more than just lists of projects and contests, it becomes very much like a support system for life in general.

Let's see...I'll add what I like most about it besides the amazing family I've acquired. I really enjoy getting out there and talking about The Pups to people. I find that once you get past people thinking your just a groupie, they are really fascinated that this group of people even exists and helps the band achieve their goals. It really is the best job I could ever have and I don't make a dime doing it

I really don't have much to add, I just echo what everyone else has said. I've had a wonderful time being an Ambassador, from doing the online stuff, to helping out at shows, to getting some fun opportunities with the band. Sick Puppies are such an amazing band and they deserve to have great fans to help them get as much recognition as possible.

I think in that in due time I'd like to apply to become one, I think I can offer a lot of unique and nice things....the only problem I could see with becoming an ambassador is the amount of time I currently have to devote to it the way it should be done. I'm all or nothing when it comes to commitment. I really like a lot of the current Ambassadors and can't wait to rock out with some of them at upcoming shows.

i really dont have anything to add everyone has done a pretty good job of describing it, but being an ambassador is very fun but you do have to work for it, it feels good to help a band you love and they totally deserve it!

i was wonderin if itd be worthwhile for me to apply i love the pups and wanna promote them and help them, but i have 2 rather big setbacks.

1. I live in Scotland
2. i am terrible with computers

if they toured the UK, id hand out flyers and stick up posters, and pretty much anything practical, im just rather clueless about computers (and im not artsy)

the only things i have going for me is my friendliness (and knowledge of the band) and im probably one of the only scots with both albums

i met another scottish ambassador here before, but no doubt hes probably good at something

any advice?

Well, you don't have to be a techie to be an ambassador. The hardest thing you'd have to do on a computer is take a screen shot, which is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. A lot of the promoting is online, but if you can post on this board, you can do everything online that we do.
