I like the new album, but not as much as the second. Last to know is definitely an amazing song, though. It's the one song off of the album that still has alot of emotional depth in it. It gives me chills how he can reach those notes in falsetto, then halfway-yell them out in his normal voice.

On a side note, Break is a hypocritical song that makes me disrespect Adam in a very large way. The song has obvious, unarguable drug reference lyrics. Wasn't most of One-X inspired by Adam kicking his drug addiction?

For me it's all kind of bittersweet really. It's almost a proven fact that many a great songwriter/musician was fueled by drug use. You could literally make a list that would no doubt take up this forum and many more, yet I hate drug use and how it has the potential to ruin lives. I wish nothing but safety and success for Adam but it's hard for me not to get irritated over the whole matter. He is without question a very capable musician and we've seen far too many perish because of drugs. I don't want him to be another Layne Staley or Kurt Cobain.

^^ In addition to that on the SP song Survive Shim talks about drug use and he doesn't use either.. So wouldn't that also be hypocritical that he is talking about it, but isn't actually using (which is a good thing, obviously)?

I haven't heard the new album yet - doesn't seem like anyone in Australia stocks it. I ordered it from Amazon over the weekend, so hopefully it will turn up on my doorstep in a few weeks.

But, I disagree about the chorus being about him stopping drugs. He's talking about altering his state of mind in the chorus. "Higher places"?
But, it really doesn't matter that much. I don't like the song, but I love the band. Not every song has to be an amazing lyrical masterpiece. The song was made for the radio, to appeal to people, and to bring the band more success and money. And it did.
On my own side note, he's more than likely talking about weed. I think he was a pill popper when he went into rehab, and he might not see weed as a decadent drug.

Just my .02: I agree with the discussion thus far about "Break", although I would consider 'higher places' to be a figurative higher; higher self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth, etc. not 'higher' as in drug high.

And, on a second note- what arena are you two talking about? I saw 'hockey' mentioned, which interests me, as I have seen multiple concerts in a hockey arena (Xcel Center, St. Paul, MN) and the sound was fantastic.
