I have no such scruples Zach. If the titles or contents of these books offend you(or anyone else), I'm sorry for a variety of things. The Ethical Slut and Confessions of a New York Call-Girl were both interesting (Ethical Slut more so) and made for very good bedtime reads. As is the famous Hite Report on female sexuality

As for Catcher, I found his constant whining to be aggravating. Yes, I understand the time period makes for large changes in what is the "norm" for male behavior is but he's an extremely weak and unsympathetic character, and extremely unrealistic in my point of view. I understand and relate to some of his fears, but he is so fixated on them and running from "growing up" that he quickly becomes a caricature of a male his age.

That's just my take on it anyways. In high-school English we read Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby and I was significantly more impressed with Gatsby, and remain impressed by it to this day. Catcher I still regard as having been one of the low points of my academic career.

As an aside, one of my favorite bedtime reads is The Tempest.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I read it years ago but I'm rereading it now.

David Sedaris. Anything by him (because he's freaking amazing and hilarious!), but especially Me Talk Pretty One Day. That is probably my favorite book of all time. I'm hoping to get Dan Brown's new book (when I have an extra forty dollars  ). Diary of a Part-Time Indian. And Journey to the Center of the Earth, because it looked interesting.

Stoner and Spaz by Ron Koertge. It's sooo funny. Short, though.

I had to read the play "The Crucible" last week for English. It actually wasn't that bad. It kept me thoroughly interested throughout the whole thing.

I just finished Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld, it was pretty interesting. AU story about WWI.

I'm currently reading Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain. It's one of the books I have to read for my "Mystery of Murder" history class, I'm hoping to get ahead on the reading. As far as I've gotten it's actually pretty good. The book that I'm most looking forward to reading this semester is King Leopold's Ghost because it's about Belgium and the colony it had (I lived in Belgium for 10 years, we never really learned about the colonies so it perks my interest).

I'm reading The Last Apprentice series by Joseph Delaney. I'm currently on book 4. These books are great if you like dark and scary stuff.
