Re: Writing Reviews for SP shows
Back in March 2010, I was showing one of my friends around downtown Santa Cruz, CA. We walked by the local nightclub, the Catalyst, where they tend to have smaller venues. I noticed that Sick Puppies was going to play in a few days (on March 8, 2010), and convinced my cousin (who came to visit from Georgia) to go. At this point I had only heard their major hits - All The Same, You're Going Down and Odd One (whenever I heard any of these though I turned up the volume!), but they were enough to make me want to see them in concert.
The crowd at the concert ended up being probably no more than 50 people, which in a way was good because there was a much more personal feel. Needless to say, I was blown away by their performance - especially Emma, who really knows how to rock out on bass. Even though I was not familiar with their music at the time, I did not want them to leave the stage, and an hour's worth of play seemed like 10 minutes. They also played a cover of Say My Name (by Destiny's Child) to the beat of Brain Stew (by Green Day). It's a brilliant cover and really shows the ingenuity of the band.
I bought the Tri Polar cd after the show, which I was able to get autographed by the band. Within the first couple weeks of having the cd I must have listened to it over 20 times (my count is now up to 30+) - I think there was a week straight where I listened to Tri Polar at least once a day. I also joined the Sick Puppies World Crew the very next day after the show.
I've been to other rock shows (Trapt, The Used, Story Of The Year) but have never been this impressed by a band before. You can tell that they work very hard at what they do and that they really appreciate their fans and people who come to see their shows - they actually get out there and tell people to "Come meet us! We'll be by the merchandise!" There is nothing better for a fan than being able to meet the people who create the music you love. A lot of bands also take their fame for granted, but you can tell that Sick Puppies certainly don't.
I cannot wait for the day that I'll be able to go to another Sick Puppies concert, and this time I will definitely know all the words to their songs.

Re: Writing Reviews for SP shows
Here's my review - btw, I am not known for my writing skills. lol My full name is Heather Gibson and you have my permission to do what you wish with this review.
I saw Sick Puppies on April 22nd, in Jackson MS at Fire Club. I've seen them several times before, and I was excited to finally see a headlining show! This was definitely the best SP concert I've seen!!! They have an amazing energy onstage. Also, the level of talent in this band is fantastic. Every song they played sounded great, & it was cool to hear a song I had never heard live before, "Should've Known Better", one of my favs from Tri-Polar! They played many of their hits, "All The Same", "My World", "Odd One", & "You're Going Down", along with several other songs, and did an encore of "Nothing Really Matters". Awesome!!! Shim has SUCH a great personality, not to mention being an amazing guitarist & singer, Mark is an excellent drummer, & I am always blown away at Emma on bass!
Sick Puppies are the most fan-friendly band I've seen, taking LOTS of time after each show to sign autographs and connect with their fans! Shim, Emma & Mark are all very cool people & I am so happy to have had the chance to talk to them again. Can't wait til the next time!

Re: Writing Reviews for SP shows
freaking awesome!!! so that means we can post our review in wordpress and on there? thats tiiight!
heres my review of the rolla show!
Rolla MO, May 1, 2010. Sick Puppies, Anberlin, Saving Abel, Story of the Year
This show was a little different than most because of the fact that it was held on a college basketball court. They had college ROTC kids as rail guarders catching the crowd surfers, and boy would they be needed! Rolla must not have many shows because people were crowd surfing and going nuts to slow songs! Story of the Year was up first and they put on an incredible show for it being such a short set. They were all so full of energy and were a great way to get the crowd going. Up next was Saving Abel. While I'm not a huge fan, they put on a good show that kept the energy in the room high. I left the pit at this point and watched Anberlin from the sidelines, but for such a crowded stage they did very well. I just wish the acoustics could have been better in the gym, but alas. Once Anberlin was done, I managed to worm my way back to front and center on the barrier and soon, "bulls on parade" began and play and the excitement grew. When the pups finally came on with "War", they were amazing as usual! In order, the played War, Cancer, Survive, My World, Odd One, Riptide, Maybe, Should've Known Better, Say My Name (complete with "pants on the ground" intro!), Pitiful, You're Going Down, and encored with All the Same and Nothing Really Matters. It was an absolutely incredible and worthwhile show. During the end of the set, Shim told the pit to turn to the seated people and scream "get the f**k up!!!", and so we did and of course, every last person was standing for the rest of the show. Before introducing Nothing Really Matters, Shim had everyone from the seats pack the floor and we had an epic bounce off to the rest of the song. THis show just proved the pups can work any venue at any time, and still be the best ones there =]
