Your history of Sick Puppies?

For me, Sick Puppies was almost an awakening. I was, and still am, an outcast at my middle school and high school because of my hobbies. While all the other girls were hooking up with hot guys and listening to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, I had morals and listened to music like Sick Puppies and Papa Roach. I was hated. Called emo. Backstabbed by my so-called friends. I fell into depression and ended up cutting, attempting suicide. I did things I never should have done over the internet. But, in the process, I found someone who could see inside of my black heart and my sins. We became friends and she sent me songs from Sick Puppies. Then, I had never heard of them. I fell in love with the band, and eventually fell in love with the man who sent all these songs to me. The first song he sent was "All the Same".
I was 12 then. I am 14 now. I feel more confident about myself and my talents such as my acting and my singing, and especially my singing. That friend, who is now my boyfriend, believes that Sick Puppies brought us together. I completely agree! Even writing this now I'm getting teary. I would be dead by now if it weren't for my boyfriend and Sick Puppies. Thank you Sick Puppies for making my life livable and giving me a future!! <3 <3 <3

Wow...Not much could compare to that...I enjoy their music, their love and passion for creating such great music, but that story is amazing. I'm glad you're getting things turned around. I know how difficult and mean-spirited kids can be and you must remember that you have qualities that others appreciate (even if those other kids don't get it) someone else does. Hang in there, we're glad to have you with us!

Haha I'm 14 too. And an outcast, And formerly depressed... It's hard. I have certain friend to thank for everything... She's been a life-saver. The first SP song I heard was You're Going Down. I didn't really take much notice of it. I thought it had good bass and moved on. Then when they released Odd One as a single and I heard it, I just had to look them up. And here I am, a slightly happier person.

Interesting...Would be nice to be 19. Everybody's surprised when I say I'm 14...I walk/act/look/talk older I guess. But inside I'm probably around 5 or 6...

This is an amazing post. It really is amazing how music can touch someone and literally change their life. As a teenager I too was somewhat of an outcast in my school. I had shunned off popularity because I couldn't stand all the fakeness that was in it. In the process I had lost a lot of "friends" because they couldn't understand why I didn't want to be just like them. However, in refusing to conform to their ways, I too fell into depression. Unfortunately, Sick Puppies weren't around back then, but it was definitely music (a lot of PapaRoach and similary groups) that helped pull me through that stage in life. Finding the right music was kind of a wake up call for me. It was like there was someone out there in the world calling out to me to let me know that I'm really not alone. Whenever a band sings lyrics filled with words that have gone through your own head it almost seems like they are speaking out directly to you. That's what I love about the Sick Puppies. They sing lyrics that I can relate to. The passion and emotion that they put into playing their instruments and singing their songs is truly moving.

Now that I'm much older and I can look back on those horrible times I can honestly say that I wouldn't change a thing. I do believe that my life is what it is because of who I decided to be (or not to be) all of those years ago. My depression and struggle back then has proven to be a life lesson that has only made me stronger. Now I have a wife, two children, a promising career, and friends that don't expect me to be just like them. So my thanks goes out to all of the band out there that has ever made a difference in anyone's life. This includes Sick Puppies, who lately has been a true inspiration to me. Sick Puppies, keep rockin'! What you do is amazing!

Odd One is a wonderful song and it really hits home for those struggling to fit in or conform to what everyone "thinks" is the only way to live...I call it the "cookie cutter format", everyone should act a certain way...Well...that's a bunch of bull$#&! I just spoke to my graduating class last night and told them to choose their own course and trust their own judgement...I reminded them that it is good to seek advice, but ultimately you have to choose the best plan of action for yourself because you have to live with whatever choice you make. I know many folks that try to conform to what their parents want, their friends are doing, etc. They are not guaranteed happiness by following this course of action. They are much more likely to be happy in the end with the choices they make based on their own feelings and wishes. You must be true to yourself! I know many people who are in careers they hate, marriages that they settled for, etc...That is no way to live! Any friends that won't accept you for "being you" really isn't a friend anyway!

I can relate, just that Evanescence not sick puppies got me through it- I Didint find out about Sick Puppies till like 2 years later. Glad to see something helped you through it all though

And lol about the "cookie cutter format" every set of parents ive had has wanted me to be the sporty preppy guy and think somethings wrong with me cause im not, instead of just accepting who I am and ya i completely agree, if someone wont accept u for who u are F" them
