The Gracious Few, Postelles, Sick Puppies Among Acts Tapped For Billboard Touring Conference Showcase
October 19, 2010
By Billboard staff
The first Billboard Touring Conference Showcase, produced by Live Nation at New York's Gramercy Theatre, is set for Nov. 3 as part of the 7th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards Nov. 3-4.
On the bill are the Gracious Few, Sick Puppies, A Place to Bury Strangers, the Postelles, Bad Rabbits and the London Souls. Attendance will be first-come, first-served to Billboard Touring Conference attendees, with a limited number of tickets available to the general public at livenation.com.
The Gracious Few features members of Live and Candlebox, and is currently headlining small clubs across the country in support of its self-titled debut, released in September on Questionable Entertainment. Additionally, vocalist Kevin Martin will appear on the conference's artist development panel Nov. 3.
Virgin Records' Sick Puppies released its third studio album "Tri-Polar" in 2009 and the Australian rock act has since played more than 250 concerts in North America, ranging from headline gigs to supporting slots for Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Chevelle and Nickelback. Sick Puppies front man Shim Moore and manager Paul Stepanek will take part in the conference's Artist Roundtable on Nov. 4.
Billed as "the loudest band in New York," A Place to Bury Strangers will embark on a European tour this November in support of its 2009 album, "Exploding Head." The group will begin working on its third album this winter, to be followed by additional touring in 2011.
The Postelles have spent time touring alongside acts like Kings of Leon, Interpol, Alberta Cross, Hockey and the Wrens, and the band appeared on such festivals as Bonnaroo, All Points West and Lollapalooza. The Postelles are currently in the midst of a cross-country tour in support of its "White Night" EP and a full-length album due in early 2011.
The London Souls are a Brooklyn-based rock band formed just three years ago, but the group has already supported such acts as the Black Crowes, the Roots, Janelle Monae, Robert Randolph, Joe Perry, Soulive and Big Boi, among others. Bad Rabbits' music, a mixture of hip-hop, pop and rock'n'roll, has enabled the group to support a wide range of artists, including Mike Posner, Passion Pit, Slick Rick, Travie McCoy and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. Bad Rabbits has been touring behind its 2010 EP, "Stick Up Kids," and is working on a full-length album.

My theory is as such....70 year-olds of today swing dance at weddings, so at 70 we'll be moshing and head banging in walkers to Rage.

Did either of you love that the actual ticket price was $12, with the service fee being $8?? That's a 66% upcharge. I absolutely loathe livenation.

I'm just happy that there are some public tickets and we're able to go at all. I didn't realize that I needed to click the livenation link (it wasn't there when I first saw this posted) and I just clicked the billboard one and it said that the conference was $525 and I thought that was the ticket price... until I read further that the show tickets were available at livenation.com.
Howard, As always I will miss you!
