The "My Walmart doesn't have Polar Opposite!" Thread.

I'm a RN working nights, and when I got off work this morning, I hauled buns to the closest wal mart on my drive home. I walked, very quickly, to the music dept. I spotted the cd's and feverishly searched through them to find..... NOTHING! I then remembered that with it being a brand new release, it would be in the new release section. Duh! Again, nothing! It's 6:15 in the morning, and it's STILL not here?! I find a worker.

"Excuse me, miss."

"Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for a new release cd, and it's not here. Have they been stocked yet?"

"We have a rep that does that, and he doesn't get here until 8."

Disappointed, "Ohhh...."

She quickly responded, "What's the name of it? I'll go see if I can find it in the back."

SWEET! "It's Sick Puppies, Polar Opposite."

She smiled, "So you want to buy a cd by the deathly ill dogs?"

Laughing, "YES!"

She disappeared into the back to come back with nothing, and gave me a story about how the power went down in their store, and the stock room was a disaster, and blah blah blah.

I'm bummed of course, but thanked her and headed to the next wal mart.

I get to the next wal mart, and hurry to the back. I just get to the cd's and a worker asks, "Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for a cd."

"A brand new release?"

Scanning the cd's quickly. "Yes, but I don't see it here."

"Our rep is right over here. He should be able to help you." Walks me over to rep. "She is looking for a new release cd."

He looks at me. "What is it?"

"It's by the Sick Puppies. It titled Polar Opposite."

In a snooty old man who hates life voice, he says, "We probably don't carry that."

I quickly replied, "I was specifically told that you would be."

He rolled his eyes. "We'll see." He walks to the back.

When he returns, he has a handful of them. In a NICE voice he says, "I found some!"

I was thinking, you're damn right you found some, but I just nicely said, "I'll take two, please!"

So, I'm enjoying myself on my drive home. I'm in my own little music zone, and some D bag on the highway decides to mess with me. WTF? I have to say, what is it with guys who decide to randomly blow kisses at you while they speed up and slow down next to you? On a side note: He was in a red Monte Carlo all decked out like Dale Earnhardt's. It even had a giant #3. (No offense to any Earnhardt fans) But seriously? Can't a girl just rock out to SP in peace?

Wow.... This sucks! But at least you've got the CD! I, on the other hand, won't be able to get it, as I don't know of any wal mart in this country.

I don't understand why some employees are so rude because they hate their jobs/life/etc. There is no need for it. I went through something similar. The employee told me that it would be awhile before she got to putting them out. When I asked how long she was very rude and said "I don't know. A while." So I asked her if she could please look for the cd (the new release boxes were open behind her on the counter) and she gives me a smarta$$ "Well it's going to take me a few minutes."

She didn't even end up helping me. She went back and got someone else to help me. And the funniest part was there were 2 other girls there who were also waiting for it.

lol You just predicted my future. I bet. I'm going to be a respiratory therapist and I'll probably being getting off work at insane hours, searching for CDs like you. Or working crazy hours just so I can fit in Sick Puppies concerts. The things we do for the Pups...

The Walmart that I normally go to didn't have and there was no one in the department so I couldn't even ask someone. So I went to another Walmart which was like 30 mins away. Finally got it. I am no longer friends with the Walmart by me anymore.

Yeah the employees at my Walmart barely speak english so who knows if they really were "checking" with the manager or if they just went to take a smoke break.

Let's all write a strongly worded letter to Walmart about the purpose of being an exclusive provider of media content and how counterproductive it is if the product is not available on the relase date. Money swirling down the drain...that will get their attention.

i asked for it, and they didnt even look for it, all she said is "it should be in the new release section" no looking in the back or anything. i hate my nearest walmart. you can NEVER expect to get anything on release day there.

See, I'm lucky and my Walmart is awesome. The employees are actually NICE, and we had 6 or 7 copies on the shelf, spit among 4 spots on the rack...

So the Wal-Marts in Memphis aren't the only ones that suck! Went to the one by me, nothing, the employee knew nothing (big surprise there). The next 2 didn't have it, but luckily there was a worker at #3 who was not a moron & actually called some other ones to see if they had it. One of them was listed as having 6 but the person on the phone said she didn't see it, which we both took to mean she didn't go & look. This girl that was helpful did not know the Pups, so she listened to a ringtone on my phone & fell in love & went to look for Tri-Polar right then! So out of Wal-Mart suckiness came a new Sick Puppies fan.

I went to the Wal-Mart that had 6 listed, 45 mins from my house, and all 6 were in plain sight on the shelf.

o.O Damn. I feel bad for all of you with your sucky Walmart's. Mine is so-so. I've tried finding a physical copy of Tri-Polar at my Walmart and I can't. I want to get the exclusive track you can download online... I forget if it's The Pretender or Til Something Breaks. One of them is Walmart and the other is Napster. Maybe I'll be lucky one day and find one...

I live in Colorado and have checked 4 different Walmarts and none of them have it. I'm pretty bummed

It annoying when stores are not prepared. The walmart i usually go to still doesnt have it up. I had to call around until i was finally able to track it down. The guy at the first store i checked said "well its listed on the computer so we should have it but for some reason i dont see it up on the shelf" its like wtf. I really wanted to say Get off your A** and unload the boxes in the back but i decided to be nice.

So Tuesday at noon I went to a 'Super Wal Mart' to pick up the new Sick Puppies disc (Plus I've gotta have a copy to review for the next issue of SFL Music) and there are none in the S section, and none in the new releases. In fact, there were cd's in the new release section sitting there from the 80's, 90's, and '00's.
So I went and asked a guy and he looked in the same two spots and said well if it isn't there it isn't there, try fye. So I told him no, I'm not going to go to fye, because it's a Wal Mart exclusive and it's been advertised that as well, go look in the back, maybe someone was too lazy to bring out an extra box of new release discs.
He comes back and says no, nothing. So than this lady whose gotta be like 60 or so says she works for the store's media and assures the employee that yes, it is a Wal Mart only cd and that they were to have it in. She goes on to log into her phone to check all stores in the area's stock and gave me this shocking news...the closest two stores to have it in stock got 5 a piece and they were in Coral Springs (an hour and 15 min from me) and a store in Hialeah (an hour and a half or so from me), both stores south.
I'm like lady, listen, this isn't good business. There isn't even a rock station that far south anymore, if anything the disc should be in stores in this area (I'm in Palm Beach County Area). The band is about to be announcing a show as part of Sun Fest in West Palm Beach, they have a single that's getting played on the only rock station in south Florida (103.1 The Buzz) and pop station (WRMF is also in West Palm Beach), what gives. So she agrees that this isn't right and says maybe I should check back in a few days or next week.
