OH MY GOD I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET POLAR OPPOSITE THE FRIDAY BEFORE SPRING BREAK AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.    I loved You're Going Down as a ballad. Sick Puppies are freakin musical geniuses. There aren't that many rock bands that can take one of their hard songs and turn it into a beautiful ballad. I also LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED Emma's vocals on Don't Walk Away and White Balloons. She has an amazing voice. Hopefully on their next CD she will have a couple of songs where she sings mostly by herself like Don't Walk Away. I also Absolutely loved the orchestral arrangements on the album. It made the record very peaceful and soothing. When I listened to the album for the first time I was totally at peace with myself and didn't have a care in the world (which never happens to me ever). I didn't listen to anything else for a few days. Which is a big deal cus I am always listening to music. I was kind of annoyed when I asked my dad if I could get it and he said " you know it really bothers me that you want to get something called Sick Puppies." :ugh: I don't think he was really that annoyed cus he had just got off work like an hour to an hour and a half earlier than that so he was probably just doing that cus he was tired. Although that isn't the first time he had a problem with buying me some music. Anyway this is by far one of my all time favorite records and I can't wait to hear more new stuff from SP. (sorry I ranted its just that i haven't been online since the Friday I got the CD and I had a lot to say)

It's funny, I totally forgot about Polar Opposite until I saw it. I went into Wal-Mart the 12th to get the new Foo Fighters CD, and just happened to notice Polar Opposite sitting nearby. Pretty funny considering how much trouble some people are having finding it!

The CD is amazing, my favorite is probably Odd One because they changed it so much. White Ballons also sounds really cool, in fact, I never listened to the original much but this version has gotten me totoally into the song!

Unplugged from Polar Opposite.

Unread postby AllieWallie » 06 Oct 2011 18:04

I simply can't get over how great the Unplugged is, if i had to chose a favorite it would probably be You're going Down or White Balloons. You're Going Down mainly because the whole arrangements they made for it gave me a whole different perspective of the song itself. White Balloons, Man, what can I say, Emma's vocals sound so beautiful along with Shim's, when it comes around to the chorus it sends chills down my spine. Being a drummer myself I admire Mark so much, especially during the Unplugged session, it all fit so well. I can sit and listen to the Unplugged and still get emotional no matter how many times i watch it.
What do you guys think?
What was your favorite Unplugged song?

Probably White Balloons. I like the Polar Opposite version of Odd One much better than the regular version, for sure. YGD is also very good. It's a great album...I do with they would have remade some of the harder songs that they have never done acoustic live versions of before though! That would have been really interesting.

Ah, The Polar Opposite version of Odd One is so amazing, love it too, i love the whole performance. It's very special. I would've loved to see the harder songs too. I guess I just love seeing different things from them, no matter what it is

The unplugged album is just too awesome for words XD
It still baffles me how SP can rock all kinds of songs, sound awesome live, and can sound just as awesome unplugged. Having an unplugged version of a song is always nice, that way if you feel like listening to You're Going Down for example, but if you're not feeling in the mood for loud music you can just go with the unplugged version. My mom is a little picky about loud rock music, and I got her listening to some of SP through the unplugged versions. Sometimes I catch her singing random jumbles of Rip Tide

I was so looking forward to Polar Opposite, just because it was something new and different and I do love when bands do more mellow acoustic stuff. I was BLOWN AWAY by it though! It was so good, with the extra soft percussion, chimes and such and Emma's vocals. I loved it, even more than I thought I would!

I'm so glad they were able to record something like that. It's a real treat for us fans. I really think the fact that they write acoustically gives them an advantage and makes even their heavier songs sound better. It was a nice change to get to hear recordings like those in interviews on radio stations. And it's a testament to the band, that they do sound so good still, stripped down.

I also agree, that I like the Polar Opposite version of White Balloons better than the original!
