Sick Puppies Music Question.

Ok I have listened to the Tri Polar album today three times. Now why is it that Sick Puppies is the only band I am able to listen this many times back to back? Serious question please post back even if the answer is they are awesome.

Basically yes, it's because they are that awesome. It's rare that I listen to anything other than them. If I heard any other cd as many times as I've heard WTTRW, DUAL, and TP I'd be majorl sick of it. not with SP though.

I think it's because, Shim's voice is just so amazing. And then on top of that is, Emma's impressive bass playing mixed with Shim's guitar...it's just hypnotizing.

That's just the effect this band causes in people, they are so awesome that the only thing you wanna do is listen to them every day, their music is incredible, they all are goodlooking, the perfect match. I listen "Too many words" every day.

The songs are all varied, like you've got something mellow like Maybe one minute, then the next you've got a fight song like War. Plus the songs are atmospheric, like Rip Tide gets you thinkin' of crashing waves. It's not all those same backbeats and repetitive lyrics you find in some other music. It's some darn good rock. You just can't hate it. Hating it is impossible.

When i first bought Tripolar, I listened to it almost non-stop for weeks. I think i was half-hoping to get sick of it, to get it out of my system and enjoy it in a less manic/obsessive way... but i never did get sick of it. I could still listen to SP exclusively for days and be content. There is no other band, no matter how extensive their library, that i can listen to without a break the way that i can with SP. I think Snowmonkies is right - it has to do with the variety within and between the songs.

No, I think it's just that this trio is very talented with the meaning of the songs, Shim's voice and guitar riffs, Emma rockin' the bass and Mark pounding the drums. And what everyone else said...

Um, I'm just going to second what everyone else here said. They are just that awesome! Also, what some other people said, that their music isn't the same thing repeated, it's pretty well varied. I don't have Tri-Polar (YET, birthday's coming in 3 weeks and I'm getting it ), or any albums but I do listen to Sick Puppies all the time on Youtube, their songs are in my playlist. I also agree with what angelbear425 said, they are the only band I can possibly listen to constantly without getting sick of them.

Anyway, got to babbling. Yeah, I second what everyone else said.

I remember seeing a video (I think it was behind the scenes of You're Going Down) and someone said that even people who like rap and hate rock appreciate their music. I gotta say, that is a hell of an accomplishment. I see a lot of other popular artists and they have a fanbase and a hate-base.

I know I'm just repeating people so I'm sorry but I agree they're the only band I don't get sick of. Its the variety, pure talent, and lyrics that move the soul and the body ...at least that's my opinion lol or maybe they found a genius subliminal beat to the music that releases chemicals in our brains causing addiction! XD lol that would be pretty neat but its all them and their amazing music

In addition to what everyone else said, this trio (and management) are all completely genuine people andthey write about things that matter and almost anyone can relate to in some way. Thye CARE about their friends and fans and LOVE what they do. This is also what makes them the best live band in existance today.

I agree to all the posts. Especially variety of songs and styles. Often other bands albums have "hard to distinguish between songs" kind of feelings, but not in SP albums. It always amazes me.

It's all such a variety (I know someone probably already said something to this effect) BUT honestly, you can get a CD from ANY other band and be like ok I'm 3 songs into this and it feels like I've heard it already. Cause all that bands songs sound the same or SAFE for that band themselves.
But Sick Puppies are EPIC, each song is as different from the next and the meanings in the lyrics...

Take Dressed Up As Life: (just my interpretation)
My World: Fear of abandonment, or feeling ignored...
Pitiful: Everything goes wrong but hey that's life.
Cancer: Not wanting to conform and spread the bland or boring.
What Are You Looking For: That want or longing to be like your favorite Artist or Actor(ess) and not caring what other people think of your "obsession" cause you're happy and not hurting anyone.
Deliverance: Wondering when fate is gonna give you a break
All The Same: Loving someone SO much you might allow them to break your heart a few times before they realize you're the one they need.
Too Many Words: Saying that 1 or 2 sentences too many when you're REALLY upset.
Howard's Tale: Is a bit confusing LOL it's like a story, in a way reminds me of the movie Tommy by The Who
Asshole Father: We all know one. Parents keeping young lovers apart.
Issues: Floating through life on autopilot(consciously unconscious) to avoid people bothering you with "what's wrong?" "are you okay?" "why are you so angry?" -"ask my parents"
Anywhere But Here: Blindly following the one you love to a point where you finally wake up to all their BS and want to be ANYWHERE BUT THERE!
The Bottom: Zombies... LOL or The Corpse Bride *shrugs*

Yea... sorry I wrote so much but that's what I think the songs mean, and how different they are. And yet there's 1, 2, 3, etc that will represent a moment or issue in your life and helps you not feel so alone.

I bought Tri-Polar and Dressed up as Life last week at Best Buy, previously I fought with youtube all the time...I think I'm pretty much suspecting some sort of hypnotism is involved in their music making. Nah, J/K....though it is highly addicting, it's like crack. But now that I actually have the albums, I'm listening pretty much all day every day except days mom's off work, and when I let the kids ahve the TV for a couple of hours. But then, I'm just cycling through the songs in my head....

I'm going to repeat my above statement: They are just awesome. And addicting. 'Nuff said.
