Back when I was starting to get into SP myself, I showed a few songs to my friend and she liked them. Then after I got most of the songs, I'd play them when she and my other friend (hereafter to be referred to as friend C and friend K to avoid confusion) came over to hang out. They really liked what they heard- friend C even said "I need this entire cd." I eventually lent her my copy of Tri-Polar Deluxe. I haven't gotten it back yet, but that's because she lives two hours away now and hasn't gotten to visit since. She's trying to get her family to like it- according to her they don't seem to hate it, and normally they complain about her music because she really likes K-pop XD Friend K has been listening to youtube playlists. She really likes You're Going Down- which she'd heard before I re-introduced it to her- and Odd One, which she wants to try and learn on guitar when she has time. When they hang out now, they've even started asking me to play Sick Puppies as opposed to when I would just play them.
One day when me and my mom went to get lunch at the Chinese food place around the corner, she mentioned the Free Hugs video, and I asked her about the song on it, and she didn't know- it could have been a different Free Hugs video since there's a lot of them now- so when we got back in the car I played the unplugged version of All the Same for her. She didn't mind it, so I played a couple more from Polar Opposite. She really liked the messages of the song- especially Rip Tide and Maybe. She got so emotional during Maybe that I had to shut it off. I talked to her about other songs, and she really started to like Sick Puppies. I uploaded most of Polar Opposite and Pretender onto her computer for her, and whenever we're out driving together we put on the songs she knows and turn them up loud. She's considering sharing some of the songs with people she knows now. She likes it so much she's been irritated at me that I lent Tri-Polar to friend C.
How have you gotten other people into Sick Puppies?
