How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Setlist
Don't you hate it when a band has a new album coming out and they tour in advance of the new album being released and all they wanna play are the new songs? I get that they are excited about the new songs ... but ... what do you guys think???
How much is too much new stuff? Would you guys rather hear a lot of older songs and a few new songs prior to the album being released ... or would you rather hear a bunch of new songs you don't know and a few of the older songs? No cheating ... you haven't heard them anywhere ...
How much is too much? 50/50?, 75/25 ???? Weight in. Gimme a percentage?
Obviously it's all fair game if the album has already been released ... i am only talking about material you are not familiar with.

I think hardcore fans would be happy to hear a lot of new songs (50% or more). But...casual fans probably would not like that much. I guess you'd have to find a happy medium for both kinds of fans. Maybe 25% new, 75% old...and rotate new songs between shows so all the psychos who go to a million shows can hear more new stuff.

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
This really depends on a couple of things I think. The 2 bigs ones would be how many songs are they playing total and are they the headliner.
For the "The band that shall not be named" tour I probably wouldn't do more than 2 new songs (just considering that they prob wont have the longest setlist for this show). Also for the "The band that shall not be named" show they should play the heavier songs, it'll match the crowd better.
I would also kind of use this as testing ground, see which songs hit it off and if the crowd gets into it keep it and if they dont try playing a different new song.
If they have any headling shows I would say go for it and do a 60/40 split for sure!
All I know, is a concert is most fun when you can sing the words to every song and while all us die hard fans wanna hear the new stuff I dont think we're gonna be the majority on the "The band that shall not be named" tour so you gotta make everyone else happy.

^ True. I forgot they weren't headlining this time around.

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
It depends on how big the set is. Headlining and longer set is different than supporting and shorter set. For sake of arguement I will go with 50/50.

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
I'm gonna go 50/50. However I agree that as an opener I would like a few teaser songs and and more older....maybe older ones that they rarely play

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
I am with the majority here. Headining shows they should play more new songs. Obviously us addicts want new new new, but opening for "The band that shall not be named", maybe less. Headining 60/40 (60 new) or at least 50/50. Opening act: 30/70 maybe (breaks my heart to say that because I REALLY want to hear the new stuff!!!!

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
It would be awesome for them to play a bunch of new songs, but like others have said, since they are not headlining, it would prob be best to go with mostly old songs with a few new ones thrown in.

If they're headlining (which they should be), then yeah about 50/50. If not headlining, I wouldn't mind hearing more of the new stuff

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
For the "The band that shall not be named" show lets say they play 10 songs. my dream set list would be
1. Cancer
2. Riptide
3. *a new song*
4. Odd One
5. Pitiful
6. My World
7. *another new song*
8. All The Same
9. Maybe
10. You're Going Down
Unfortunately i wouldn't be allowed to pick more or there would be so many more, i'd probably pick the non-singles but since they would only be opening for "The band that shall not be named" i'd pick more singles like this setlist

Re: How Many New Songs Do You Wanna Hear In The Upcoming Set
I would rather prefer old songs and lets say maybe 2 new songs but it depends on their playtime and if they are playing at festival or normal gig as a headliner/opening band for someone...
I was at Rock Am Ring 2010, Stone Sour was there for their first show on european festivals, they played a lot of new songs and it wasnt so good because we just stood there, you know what I mean..
