Riptide (A poem)

(Inspired by the song of the same namesake.)


"I won't justify the way I live my life..."
But exactly what way
Do I live my life
Every day is a new wave
Of emotions and thoughts
Flooding, drowning me
Who should I be, what path do I take
Will I be surrounded
Or stranded
Perhaps if I swim
In the right sea of people
I will find my own island
Surrounded by a riptide unique to me
And only me
Maybe I'll share it with someone
If they can cross my riptide
And make it to me
Through the rough seas.
