"Connect" Song Previews Are Out!...Let'd Discuss

Hey guys! Haven't shown my face here in a while. But I finally got a chance to listen to that Youtube album preview of "Connect" and need someone to celebrate with. Why not the World Crew? I love the new sound (or sounds...there is a LOT of variety in this album!)

Anyways...answer these questions three...

1. What is your favorite lyric/lyrics off "Connect" so far? (They can be from the full released songs or live songs, or the song previews).

2. What song are you looking forward to the most? Is there one you want to be a single?

3. Shim's voice in "Connect" and Emma's voice in "Under a Very Black Sky"...oh my gosh, right?

(My favorite lyrics so far are "I realize I never learned how to fly...is there still time? Is there still time?" from Where Did the Time Go, and "I don't know how to reach you/I shut down instead/When all I wanna do/Is connect with you" from Connect. I also see Connect being a single (it is very "Mumsford-y" as Shim said). But I'm looking most forward to the full versions of Gunfight and Under a Very Black Sky.)

'Black Sky kinda sounds like White Balloons' evil twin. Both are progressive, floaty sky-songs that feature Emma singing a big part. Plus the titles are Black and White.
I'm not saying this is bad, I think it's kinda cool actually. I wonder if they did it on purpose or if it was just coincidental.
I can definitely hear the Beatles-y sound Shim mentioned. Makes me think of Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite.

Edit: Listened to the preview just now, noted the lyric 'through my eyes it's all black and white.' I just need to stop myself here before I go nuts with this XD

1. From "Under a Very Black Sky" - "It's easy to love you, easy as hell, when you're anyone, anyone else"

2. I would love "Gunfight" (for it's politics) or "Walking Away" as singles. Or "Trick the Devil Did."
And I am for "Under a Very Black Sky" - it reminds me of the Beatles. I actually listened to Revolver and Sgt Pepper last night for the first time in over a decade.

I'm beyond excited for trick the devil did, it's been stuck in my head since the live stream when they recorded it.
Though I was surprised by all the mixing on it, not sure if that's good or bad but I would love to hear it live!

So far, Walking Away (or Walk Away as it shows on the bands site) really resonates with me after hearing it a few times at the shows! Very powerful. Connect is great, and I think I like hearing it acoustic more than plugged in right now.

I'm excited. I think Poison is going to be one of my new favorite songs, that and Trick the Devil Did. I can't wait to listen to the full songs!!

The ones that I'm most excited for are 'Gunfight', 'Where Did the Time Go', 'Run' and 'Trick the Devil Did'.
I'm not too sure about the chorus for 'Poison'... But I really like the sound of the verse. Maybe once I hear the whole song, it will grow on me

Where Did the Time Go- Love the ending of the clip "Is there still time" (Shim's voice <3).

Connect- As someone in a long distance relationship for a year now (my gf lives in Australia) I really connect with this song. Especially the last verse.

Run- Just sounds so epic.

As a fellow bassist, I can honestly say that the basslines on this album are *fantastic*. Especially in Gunfight and Die to Save You, the style and power that Emma's playing has makes me love her style and skill so much more. Anyway!

1) My favorite lyric would probably have to be "If I could stand on top of my world, I'd still be looking up at stars that I could never touch" from Healing Now. It just has a deeper meaning than it lets on, and I love that about the Pup's lyrics!

2) I'm reallllly looking forward to Gunfight, The Trick the Devil Did and Under A Very Black Sky. I would absolutely love either Gunfight or The Trick The Devil Did as a single! Though I really do love Die To Save You (from my pre-order) and There's No Going Back as the currently released tracks!

3) Was I the only person that got a Muse-like feeling from the guitar solo/style in Under A Very Black Sky? I loved it! Considering the fact that White Balloons is my favorite song of all time, to hear another song with the same style makes me happy as hell!

And DLCramer - no, unfortunately. My aunt's wedding is in Nevada next week, so all my traveling money is going towards that. But I will be moving to Chicago in fall, so I'm hoping that means I'll finally go to my first Pups show there!

I'm bouncing off the walls like a fat guy on a trampoline over the preview.

I love "Walk Away" the most, this will surely be my favorite song off the album. LIVE it is amazing and I'm sure will be a staple on the set list on this album cycle. I love the chunky chords when Shim bends it up a full step like he does here. Lyrics I super relate too, It's a plea to not get dumped by someone you love....thats the story of My World.

From UAVBS, the lyric "It's easy to hid; under a very black sky" kinda punches me in my feelings.

Die to Save You, is so great, so dark and melodic in a dissident and minor chord way....me likey. They have been opening with the live the last handful of shows, it's a great opening song!

Poisen, kinda creepy....I feel this song really tries to tell a story but in the snippet we don't get the whole story....but I'm sure I'm going to love it.

The song Connect brings it all together for me, from fellow Ambsassies that have become my second family to girls I crush on to girlfriends I've lost. It's a heart twinge.

I could type 7 more paragraphs but I'll leave you with this.

I can barely believe it's almost time! We've been waiting on this for so long, it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that we're finally here!

'You can't regret what you don't decide'...probably my favorite line of lyrics so far, simple and so very true! However I think my favorite song so far is 'Connect'

I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest o f 'Under a Very Black Sky' and 'Poison'...and every other song!

Fav song: Connect / Theres no going back (actually I cant decide... ) walk away is good too. Really depends on my mood.

Fav lyric so far: "Even when I stand on the top of my world, I'll still be looking up at stars that I will never touch" (off the top of my head, maybe paraphrasing a bit)

I agree with Dave that I enjoy the unplugged version of Connect although the album version is acoustic.

UAVBS certainly reminds me of the Beatles and I thought that months ago when I first heard a snippet

Walking Away may be my favorite although I'm sure this is one of those albums that I just don't dislike anything.

The trick the devil did...well I'm glad the devil did it. Something sinister and dark that I am drawn to in the clip and bass line.

I wonder if Run and Walking Away are tied together also, maybe like White Balloons and Black Sky seem to be? It's kind of like this Album #Connects all the others in a semi sub-conscious, cerebral kind of way.

All I know is I'm sure I will love every song on this album in each it's own way for every different mood I have...and it's almost here!
