I can't speak for what I think about FFDP since I haven't heard many songs of theirs, but I figured Geezer's been at this for longer than all of the other bands up for the award.
As for Johnny Christ, I didn't want him to win because A7x has been whupping us in polls lately and if they won on something this big I'd go nuts XD
... alright, and I just don't like him. For petty reasons, but I admit it <.<
If Emma won, I think that would have been significant specifically because she's female. The only awards you hear female rockers winning are the Rock Goddess type ones- which, half the participants in those things don't even like the distinction but can't say so directly for fear of sounding ungrateful/getting a bad rap from the sites that run them (I have heard so from three different sources including Emma) So to win something acknowledging skill instead of 'hotness' would have been big not only for her, but for all female musicians.
Plus, gurl can play. But in these forums, that goes without sayin'
