Food, Recipes, etc.

Unread postby Missy » 11 Jul 2008 22:51

So because of my newfound love of the Food Network and cooking, I thought I would start this thread up. Basically, if you have any "specialties" or recipe ideas or anything you wanna share, this is the place to do it!

I will kick it off:
I just tried a new idea today that I like to call "Brookies". I took one box of brownie mix and added a little white wine (cuz I believe EVERYTHING tastes better with wine  ). I poured it into the pan and then balled up ready-bake chocolate chip cookies into little bits and sprinkles a layer. Then I mixed another box of brownies and wine and added a small layer of brownie mix, another layer of cookie bits, and then finished the brownie mix. Then I baked it at 325 degrees for about an hour and they were YUMMIFIED!!!!

Basically it's a brownie/cookie infusion... That's how I came up with "Brookie"

Favorite Recipies

Unread postby dressedupaslife » 14 Jul 2008 22:37

My first "recipe' that I want to share with y'all was given to me yesterday by Paul at the Cincinnati concert. I explained to him that when I got home from the Toledo concert, that the jar of Vegemite I had ordered online had arrived, and that I wondered what was his favorite way to enjoy the Australian delicacy. So here it is, from Paul, the manager of our beloved band trio......

1 slice bread
butter
vegemite
tomato
cheese

take slice of bread and toast in toaster, then spread "alot" of butter on toasted bread. Then spread a "very thin" layer of vegemite on top of the butter. add slices of tomato and top with cheese. Place in toaster oven till cheese melts. Enjoy !!!

Bacon and Avocado/Vegemite Bagel

Onion bagel, or bagel of your choice
butter
vegemite
avocado
bacon
cheese

split bagel and toast it slightly, spread a heavy layer of butter on both sides and then spread very thin layer of vegemite on each. take avocado split in half, remove pit, and scoop out of skin onto cutting board. dice avocado into pieces and place some ontop of the vegemite. Take 2 or 3 strips cooked crisp bacon and place on top of avocado and then top with cheese. Place in toaster oven till cheese melts. Enjoy !!!

So, if you don't mind me asking Brian... How much did you pay for this Vegemite?

Missyyyyyy,

Heyy sweetheart, I got it online from a site Susanna gave me a link to :

http://about-australia-shop.com/index.php

the 14 ounce jar was $12 dollas, but I have found out that a lil vegemite goes a loooooong way, lol.

I'll be attempting to get Vegemite recipes from Em, Shim, and James as well.

Hmmm... Not too shabby Brian! Thanks for the link, I may have to look into that.

I also just made Red Velvet cupcakes that I saw on the Food Network. I made a little cake with the excess batter I had, and I *ahem* decorated it awesomely! I will have to download the pics tomorrow

For those of you who don't cook and have time on your hands, Food Network's got a new idea for a reality show:

Twinkie Weiner Sandwhich:
One Twinkie
One Hotdog (should be cooked)
EasyCheese

Carefully cut open the twinkie and then place the hotdog inside the twinkie, then carefully spray the cheese onto the hotdog, get yourself a cold glass of whatever you prefer (Milk is the best choice!) and dig in!

Now, I haven't had one of these in years just because I wanted to lose weight and still am but when I had these i thought they were awsome!

Brian, are you psychic?!? I totally decided over the weekend that I wanna own my own restaurant and/or hotel!!! That would be absolutely amazing! I almost sent in an application for Hell's Kitchen, but thought culinary school would probably be a good idea first! LOL I need to research and see if there are any that can work around my work schedule...

And that hot dog/cheese/twinkie combo sounds.... ummm.... interesting. lol It would probably sound better if I didn't work around hot dogs all day long...

Mandy, why aren't you supposed to eat those types of things?!? I would DIE!!! lol
