Re: COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - 02/08/2008
So, River Riot 2008 was a HUGE success! Paul, the band, and myself were extremely stoked at the turn out and crowd reaction to Puppies! I still say they were the best! It was fun to spend the day with them and Jerry. It was hot as hell but I enjoyed every minute of it (despite being trampled during Pups set). I have a very bad back so being in the pit is not an option for me. I usually stay off to the sides and I was but it never fails you have some yahoos who start a pit where I am. But, I digress!
It was hard to stay hydrated but I have to give props to 89.7 The River and Westfair for providing free water all day/night. They never used to do that and Ive had a hard time attending outdoor festivals because of this. As well as having food on board, that helped. Got about 3 pages of email signups and I cant wait until they get added to our system so I can start hunting down some more help my direction. I had one gal who was so excited she kept asking me if Pups would sign her shoe and I told her they would. She came back later jumping up and down and nearly hugging me cuz she was so excited they did. Ha ha! That girls enthusiasum rocked!
Filter was kind of a let down. Finger 11 sucked (no offense). "The band that shall not be named" was awesome and seeing Em play bass and cover Stone Temple Pilots was rockin since I have ALWAYS loved STP. The band Safety Suit....DEFINATLY A NEW FAVORITE BAND FOR ME! I wasnt expecting much from them since they are new on the scene but they blew Ben and I away! So, check them out! 3 Doors Down put on an excellent show as well. I was impressed. Staind was very cool. It was an AWESOME lineup.
Sorry I haven't posted a review or pics until now. Ive had a lot going on. On my way back from Minnesota to this show I found out my grandma was very sick and in the hospital in ICU so its been busy. But I do have some photos. Not the best, but I do have some. These were taken on a disposable cuz my digital was not allowed. I hate how they turned out. They look as though we were way far from the stage and we weren't! Not to mention how grainy some of them are. But, enjoy!
