Deliverance meaning?

Deliverance is one of my favorite songs on DUAL and I always thought it was about a breakup... but on their myspace page it says that it is about a "freaky stalker"... Then sometimes is sounds like they are going somewhere else with it... Does anyone know what the song is really about? How would it be about a stalker? Help... I love this song...

from what I know it is definitely about a stalker - the lyrics really paint a picture , some snippets : gotta get away from all her lies, her temper's always on the rise, won't take this anymore it's time to hold this to the light, her mental prison is not my decision, etc.
You could say that it was about a breakup as well but I heard (wish I could remember where!) that it is about dealing with a female stalker.

Maybe it was a break up, as well. She could've been one of those crazy girls that don't leave the guys alone because she doesn't want to settle with the fact that it's over.

definitely... a breakup can lead to a stalking issue so I can definitely see that in this song.

it doesn't elaborate on whether it was a random stalker or if it was an ex-girlfriend who couldn't let go...maybe this is something that could be asked in the Questions for the Band thread .

yeah it sounds like its about a gf stalker that may not have got the hint. When they broke up and maybe thats where the stalking comes in.

I was watching some sets of acoustic videos and Shim had said that he wrote Deliverence either from an experience when he was 20 years old or he wrote it when he was 20 years old. not sure. But anyways he said it was about a girl that he broke up that really just didn't get the hint and wouldn't leave him alone.

I can totally relate to that. After breaking up with my ex, he kept bugging me, trying to get me to take him back. God, he was awfully clingy.

I don't know if anyone is a tool fan, but the main lyricist/vocalist, Maynard, is quoted on multiple occasions saying, in essence, it doesn't matter what the lyrics mean to me, what do they mean to you?
I *love* Deliverance. I had heard that it was about a stalker as well, but i relate it to my own stalker-free life very easily.
