It would be cute if you mentioned "Joe The Plumber" 23 times throughout the paper.

Haha, in my experience, civics teachers don't like commentary... But otherwise I would.

I've kept very quiet on this topic because of my position as Admin, but I wanted to share a story from today that makes me sad. I went to mail something at the post office and I had an Obama sticker on my envelope. It's no shock or surprise to people who know me that I'm pretty much the biggest bleeding heart, tree hugging, gay pride liberal around... But the man who took my envelope tapped the sticker and smiled at me saying "Good for you." He was a man of color and proceeded to tell me that he was watching the news yesterday and was horrified by some of the older peoples' views and how they even used the horrific N-word in stating why they won't be voting Obama.

Vote as your conscience directs you on the issues, by all means. But when it comes down to the color of someone's skin or the sexual organs they were born with to decide your vote, it says far more about you than the candidates. (You = universal in this case).

Susanna,

That story is very sad. I cant believe the issues with race that are still present in America and all the prejudice against it.

We still can't get a look into Bill Ayers or Jeremiah Wright or Tony Rezko or any of these other people allied with Obama, but we gotta look into Sarah Palin's wardrobe? Most candidates get their designer clothes for free folks. She actually paid for them like a regular person.
The media smears Sarah Palin (the very kind of woman they claim to care about) for buying clothes. Who paid for Hillary's pantsuits, Pelosi's pearls, and Biden's hair plugs? You couldn't pay off one of Tim Mahoney's mistresses for 150 grand, or Jesse Jackson's, or John Edwards' -- not to mention the $80,000 Spitzer spent on hookers!
The markets are hysterical on fear of a tax-raising, anti-business Obama presidency. Small businesses are terrified out there.

I posted elsewhere that I was called a terrorist for voting Obama. That hurt....bad.

My most recent thought on the election is that I have heard more often than not that we should put someone who has a military background into office. They say that a military background would make for a better President always. Well I feel that if I or my son want to run for the office, that these same people would feel I was unqualified to do so simply because I have no military experience. So just because I never served then I should never want to run for office because I would not be good for this country.

Well I'll tell ya what. It may be the most uneducated thing I say but McCain in office scares the HELL out of me because of my son. I don't even pretend to understand how all the crud works, but I do know that in the last 31 yrs only 2 Presidents have not been re-elected. So chances are whoever wins will be there 8 yrs. You figure most policy really takes hold by the end of 8 and then the next 8 are spent trying to over turn. Ok whatever...When I look at Mr military I see the reinstatement of the draft, because our military is being dwindled to the point we have weekend warriors fighting in combat. Ok so in my head this happens and in 8 my son is 12 and if it take anywhere near 8 to reverse I have a 18-20 yr old who may not have had a choice inthe matter and I tell you what Canada better welcome us with open arms. I'm I having extreme thoughts you bet I am...Are my thoughts based on anything other than my own fears...No. Am I sounding stupid right now...I'm sure I am. But that is what goes through my head. Do I think Obama is th eperfect choice...absolutely not, but I don't feel I have to worry about my child for the next 8. ANd no the whole military thing isn't the only factor that made me vote the way I did. It is just what I'm dealing with publically right now. Tomorrow it may be different.

I do realize that, but it can happen and I think if it did the man heading the country would be him rather than Obama. Like I said it isn't the most rational thought I've ever had, but it is my thought none the less.

Stacey, my Mom always worried about that, too. And I've been told that I "should be ashamed of myself" for voting for Obama recently. And that I was going to "let them take over!"

And this whole business with oh your a Republican and oh your a democrat. It takes me back to that horrible October 10 yrs ago when my community was all over the news with "THE GAY UNIVERSITY WYOMING STUDENT THAT WAS BEATEN TO DEATH...." Ummm yeah he had a name and it was Matthew Sheperd, why is it we are labels rather than people. I feel like McCain imbodies the name and Obama imbodies the person. Dang I am emotioional tonight I think I should just get some sleep...
