....I hope everyone doesn't hate me for this, but I don't think this is a good 1st single for a new album o.O
(sorry! just being honest and giving my opinion)

I'm all for a fun pre-new album/side-project song, but I think something with actual progression musically/vocally is needed for the new album's 1st single. I mean, it's a fun, catchy song and all, and if it was made just spontaneously for fun (a la "Killing Myself For Christmas") and to be suitable for the game, then cool! but if this is going to be their new direction in sound then I'd be upset to the point of crying because it would be regression. I think I'm just being paranoid though which I probably am haha. Shim's said before how he didn't really like the WTTRW album so much because it was too all over the place and not well done, and has also stated he still has so much he wants to achieve vocally. He's a great vocalist (as a singer), and talented guitarist (in DUAL not ONE riff sounded alike, which takes talent) so I'm sure it won't go to waste (along with Emma's fantastic bass playing; some of you stated the lack of it on this song). He's the reason I want to do actual singing for my own music rather than succumb to the ever so popular "cookie monster growly" vocals as Matt (solacematt) and I like to call it =P

I hope they don't forget about the amazing ballads like "All The Same", "My World", "What Are You Looking For?", and "Too Many Words", the uniquely done & unpredictable ones like "Howard's Tale", the power/heavy ballads like "Deliverance" and "Cancer", or the creative ones like "Pitiful". Those kind of songs are not easy to create, and I base that as a struggling musician.

Thanks to the person who added the song to youtube... FINALLY I can listen to it - I can't see it on their myspace >o< -

Well, what can I say...

On the one hand, I'm a bit disapointed about Shim's voice. He's a great vocalist but here it's screamings and alterations during the verses.
Moreover, Emma's bass line isn't very distinct from the song.

But on the other hand, I love the beginning, the energy (due in part to Shim's voice... it's paradoxal) and the lyrics .. It's really powerful (btw I wonder if Mark destroyed his drums), and I love the way it's all linked. I don't know how to explain it, but I think there is an evolution during the song.

Despite the things I said, I'm in love with this song, and I'm listening to it again and again.
But I hope the other songs of the album are different. If not, the album isn't going to be as unique and complete as DUAL.
But I'm confident, really :)

Yeah I think the drumming is the biggest stand-out, very intense drum action o.O

....but yeah, I'm pretty confident too, I just get soooo nervous whenever a band has such a great big debut album and they're about to follow it up. (it happened with Paramore before "Riot", with TVBS before "El Monstruo", with Muse before "Black Holes and Revelations", etc; though the latter was actually from 3rd-4th, but 3rd was their intro to the mainstream) But yeah, none of the aforementioned disappointed so I highly doubt SP will =]

I totally understand :)
But don't be nervous, really !
In DUAL for example, every song has something particular.
And I think it's going to be the same here. War is certainly just a facet of the album.
So even if you're not crazy about this song, think that when you'll listen to the whole album, you might enjoy it a lot more.

Oh and I forgot... This song is gonna be SUPER GREAT live !
Aaaah I love SP...

Oh, don't misunderstand... It's the COMMERCIAL they play all the time (that's about the only music you actually hear on MTV  )
