It was weird for me to hear two songs about fighting in a row since I don't picture ANY of the band being big fighters :laugh:

(especially after the last Xmas show where Shim told us to just eye gouge people lmao) But after I saw that it all made sense LOL

I like both new songs, but it's good to know that there's a specific reason for the fighting lyrics, and that it's not the overall feel of the new album. Stay positive! :wink:

I have to say that the Street Fighter and WWE revelations really helped me stay optimistic and happy once again.
And... since they *are* commerical, over-poppy institutions, the songs had to have more of a commerical, refined sound to them.

I'm not a huge fan of either song, but they do get me pumped up. :laugh:

I'm afraid this song is too produced. With the voice overlapping and stuff, like what happened to Evanescence...their second album was too overdone and it sucked. I hope this doesn't happen to the pups... :confused:

If you hear it in person you may change your mind. Also worth mentioning, I think a good part of the overlapping is Emma singing along with Shim. She sings right with him in a LOT of this song...

Also, I don't know if you saw my previous post which has a link to the interview where they say that both WAR and YGD were written specifically out of trying to come up with a song for the Street Fighter video game.

Forgive me as I am not an Ev fan (sorry peeps) but isn't that a different story? Weren't there different people in the band on these two albums? Just wondering... The pups are still the same 3 people that we know and love.

Even more complicated.

The first album was a (re)compilation of several older songs, written for the biggest part, I reckon, by a former member of the band.

So firstly the second album featured only new songs, and not remixed-old-ones, and moreover, those songs had not been written by the same person, as this guy left them between the first and the second album.

(Hum, I may be wrong, this are just a few reminiscence about what I red on Wikiki..)

Nevertheless, I'm really effraid that the same thing may be happening... Even if I think the two last songs are largely superior to the other band's songs.

I, personally, think that the last two songs were made specifically to catch the Street Fighter/WWE fans' attention. The Pups are trying to get world domination, and writing music that will appeal to those fans may just be a stepping stone to get millions of ears to hear the awesomeness of Sick Puppies. Tri-Polar WILL be amazing, because it was created by three amazing people.

I also don't think there should be any comparison with Ev as the album has not yet come out. And bashing other bands (especially the one the majority of us absolutely adore) is not needed. Maybe they used more on the second album, but I'm sure it was to try something creatively since they were able to afford it and wanted to try new things. I'm sure the Pups will take risks on the album, but if you don't take risks you can't grow

My apologies for the double post, but I just listened to the interview off Q101 and Shim said those two are the only "FIGHT, fight" songs on the record. So all you worryers can breathe a sigh of relief :laugh:
