Screw the Bad Reviews: Let's Make Tri-Polar A Success!!!

I read a few of the initial reviews before the album hit stores on Tuesday. There was a common word used in all of the "bad" reviews I read:

Consistency.

They all complained how every song sounded like it could have been by a different band.

You know what? THAT is what makes SP great. EVERY song sounds different. Not to bring up Nickelback again, but all of their songs DO sound the same. Who wants that?

Looking back on DUAL, I only heard one song that I felt sounded like a different band. To me "Deliverance" sounds like it could have been a Papa Roach song. As for Tri-Polar, there's only one song that I could hear another artist doing. Now, don't kill me, but I could hear "Maybe" being performed by Daughtry. Shim doesn't sounds anything like him, but the style of song is one like Daughtry would sing.

That doesn't make it a bad song, actually it's one of my favorites of Tri-Polar, it just means that SP have a wide musical range and are not locked into just ONE sound.

^^^ Yeah, it gets old when a band keeps putting out the same album over and over again. Some people don't deal with change well. I definitely think DUAL has a more raw sound, which I like, but I don't find Tri-Polar to be over produced or anything. Some songs have more production than others, but IMO it's a good balance.

i was at krockathon, there were lots of rocks, bottle, mulch and rubber baseballs thrown on stage during their set. i felt bad for them that day because it was when shim was still sick and that crowd was not into them at all. they were all there for three days grace and were pretty drunk.

I agree that every album should be different and be its own sound. The band Thrice follows that kind of philosophy which many older fans didn't seem to catch; they said since the beginning they would never repeat an album, and have been loyal to the promise since. That's why I love them, I can't wait until the new one out in October!

My sister and I were talking about how different his album is from the first one. The first time I listened to it, I didn't really enjoy it because it was so different. But after a few listens, I really really like this album. I think most people were just expecting Dressed Up As Life part 2 and were upset when they didn't get it. I love the harder vibe of this album.

If they had come out with DUAL part 2, people who be groaning over how they didn't really expand and grow as a band. They'll never win.

Let's just appreciate that we got a second album

P.S. - By the by, I heard YGD on X1039 (best station ever) while I was driving and after the song played, the DJ John DeSantis plugged in the album release, then went on for about a minute on how that's his pick for album of 2009 so far, how it's definitely worth buying, and guaranteed people will love it.
