Where/When did you first hear the Sick Puppies? (POLL)

I first heard them in 2007 on a local radio station and instantly fell in love with "All the Same". My Hubby liked it too and went and got the CD. We loved every song and we have been to all the concerts( until tonight) that they have come here. We were really bummed not to go tonight, but didn't have the cash to spare. I don't think I have ever loved a band so much ever. They are just so awesome!!

I've said it somewhere once before, but I heard about them on Imeem. They did a sponsored playlist right when they released Dressed Up as Life. The second I heard it was the second I fell in love with them. Pitiful was my first introduction to them and it made me a fan for life.

They're still a staple in every playlist. <3

I first heard them when they opened for Evanescence here in Lincoln. I want to say about 2005? or so, not entirely sure of the year, but have been a fan ever since. There was another opening band which totally sucked, but Sick Puppies ruled the stage after them. I went out a bought "Dressed Up as Life" and have been a fan ever since!!!! They rock!

My friend Joe had a line from "My World" as his away message on AIM and I googled it and then youtubed it and the rest is history. He also got me into Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Chronic Future...and probably even more bands than that.

Ok, so, I, like many others, heard "All The Same". I believe, if I remember correctly, my friend Phil introduced me to the song. Either that or I saw the music video on VH1 or something. I knew nothing of the Free Hugs video, or any of their other music. And I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't all that impressed. I thought to myself 'Oh, this guy has a nice, sweet voice. This song is cute'. lol
And I wasn't that into them. I could have gotten more of their stuff, but I didn't bother, because I based them off of "All The Same". I usually don't base bands off of one song, but I did for Sick Puppies, and I regret it.
So, why am I here? How did I come to like Sick Puppies?
Well, two days ago, I went to Edgefest. Yes. I actually didn't really want to go. Most of the bands on the line-up, I didn't care for, and I felt that the show wasn't worth my money to pay back. But, my best friend's mom said she'd give me her ticket for free, because she really didn't want to go. So, considering it was my best friend, and it was free, I went.
I was okay with it, I mean, I liked Bury Your Dead, so I figured their performance was going to be good.
Bury Your Dead was not the best performance of the night. Sick Puppies was. Granted, we didn't stay to see Mudvayne, but Sick Puppies was the best that we saw. They really surprised me. Their music was a lot better than I expected, and their performance was overall very entertaining. It wasn't even just the music. Shimon made the performance entertaining, as well, in being a good... let's say, showman, to the crowd. He made me laugh a lot.
And so, last night, I listened to all the music I could find of theirs, and liked most of it. Sure, their studio versions aren't as good as the live, but they're still good. I just wish I could find Welcome to the Real World. That would probably confirm my liking of them. Ah well. In time, I suppose.

^^^ Glad you liked the live show. People can't help but become a fan after seeing them live, they're amazing! DUAL and Tri-Polar are heaps better than WTTRW, so you aren't missing much. WTTRW is a completely different sound/style. And they were very young and inexperienced when they made it.

Yeah, I can understand that. They're not the first band I've become a fan of after seeing live. One of my favorite bands I wasn't a fan of until I saw live. Some bands are just so much better live. It's a different experience.
Thanks for telling me about Welcome to the Real World. I would have imagined they would have been young and inexperienced when making it. Most bands are. But, I tend to find that I like most bands' first albums the most. Maybe it's just me. I'm still going to look for it, and find out for myself. Thanks though.

Welcome to the Real World is more likely to be an album you'll wish to have for your collection if you become a hardcore fan... 'cause it's very different, and globaly speaking, not exceptional at all... Nonetheless, go on YouTube and look for "Nothing Really Matters" ; it's a song from this album that's completely worth listening...

For indication, I like three songs from this album : Nothing Really Matters (I love it !) and the two soft ones : Time Will Pass and The Way.
