They made me realize that slap bass sounds pretty damned good in heavy, non-funk kind of music when used correctly and tastefully. I've heard bands use it before (chili peppers, 311, incubus, infectious grooves, primus etc) but never in straightforward heavy rock. I like the funky stuff as much as the next guy, but I hadn't really heard it in straight up rock. Definitely works if you use it correctly, as Emma does.
They also helped reinforce the idea that rock bassists don't need to be boring musically. When mixed and blended correctly, they can be an equal and vital part of the band just as the vocals and drums are.

They taught me that no dream is too big or too impossible. Pretty much you go for it and if it's meant to be it will happen and if it isn't supposed to happen then it won't. They also helped me realize that lyrics don't have to be about drugs or "swag" (don't even get me started on that one.)
