Heard You're going down on the radio, and it all took off from there. Have both CD's and find myself a member of this wonderful site!

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
A Twilight tribute video on YouTube
A friend of mine was playing it, and "All The Same" was the theme song. I got that one song, and for months it was the only one I listened to. Then I heard "My World" on The Point and grabbed that one from iTunes as well. I didn't get around to buying the rest of Dressed Up As Life until I saw them play Pointfest last year though. Then I didn't become a super fan until their show at the Pageant with Hurt last September. The Sick Puppies live show is what did it for me!

Free Hugs Video & My Space video links from my friends, but really became a hardcore fan after seeing them live at the Ho Ho Show in St. Louis about 5 months ago, Nickelback Tour when they came to St. Louis last month. Traveling to Memphis in a couple months...I'm hooked!

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
After reading the responses it seems a few of us saw Sick Puppies for the first time at the same show.
I took my girlfriend to see Evanescence @ Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie in 2007. This was my first rock concert, I'm 23 at the time, better late than never. The first band was horrible but their drummer was good. The Sick Puppies came out next and started playing. We were sitting far back and found it difficult to get into the music until they went into their rendition of Say My Name. I was absolutely blown away. Emma was electrifying on bass.
As soon as their set was over I went out to get in line to meet the band and buy Dressed Up As Life. They signed it & my ticket stub. They were all completely humble and very appreciative when I met them. I've been hooked every since.
We ended up missing the opening song of Evanescence because I was talking to the band. My girlfriend was mad but she's gone with me 6 more times to see them live.

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
My first time was when I was on a chat room, and my friend sent me "I Hate You", and "You're Going Down" from them. I then bought their Tri-Polar album, and haven't stopped listening.

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
I got tickets to the Nickelback/Breaking Benjamin/Shinedown/SP concert in April in Ottawa.
I had no idea who they were, but I figured I'd listen to a few of their songs.
Since then it's been an epic decent into SP madness =D

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
i'd actually vageuly known them back in 06 when a friend and i watched free hugs....but at that time i was too lazy to listen to new music so i only knew that. what an idiot i was
in 08 i was reintroduced through a friend and instantly became obsessed...i only had about 4 days to learn the record and almost completely succeeded... and when i saw the live show in august it was love at first sight (and listen!). i immediately joined the world crew and ambassador program =]

I saw them live when they opened for Evanescence at their LA show in 2007, i believe. I immediately fell in love.

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
I saw "You're Going Down" on iTunes, so I bought it, but didn't think much of it. Later, I saw the "Free Hugs" video, noticed that the song was by Sick Puppies, and still wasn't super-interested. I just made a station for them on Pandora to see if the artist bio would mention the video. When the station was playing I realized that everything playing was awesome, so I finally looked into them. It took me some convincing...but I'm glad i was swayed by life to look them up XD
I can't think of a better way to waste my time than try.

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
Back in 1999/2000 or so.
they were supporting a band called superheist at castle hill tavern.
went to see superheist but Sick Puppies blew them away in how great a live performance they did.
Than they released Welcome to the real world
Saw many more concerts from Blaxland Tavern to various places in sydney itself in support of Welcome to the real world.
Than my favourite band moved away
luckily we still get their cd's i guess.
p.s come home sick puppies Sydney need more shows!

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
I'm feeling a bit old too. My first time was around 1999/2000 Triple J radio, unearthed competition I think.
First time live they were supporting The Porkers at the Annandale Hotel and they had the place fired up as they hit the stage hard!
Also seen 'em at Northpoint Tavern Nth Sydney, Blaxland Tav and a few others.
International plane fares are now expensive concert tickets for me, but I can dream.

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
I remember I was listening to the radio on my way home, and the radio station that I usually listen said that they were now interviewing some band called 'Sick Puppies'. I stayed because I was intrigued. They mainly talked about the My World vid, and the dude asked him 'now you throw some money on the ground, and some dude starts to punch you. What the hell Shim?' It was hilarious XD
And I was curious about this 'money throwing' moment so I went on Youtube to look up the vid, rest is history. Fan for 2ish years now!

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
Fun story... I discovered in three separate time without even realizing it was the same band.
1. You're Going Down video was on MTV, and I remember thinking the song was kind of cool and the lead singer was mildly attractive, but couldn't remember the band name.
2. All the Same played on this alternative radio station we had on Dish Network (Feedback, I think it's called?) and I got obsessed with that song for a while.
3. I saw the CD "Tri-Polar" at the store, and thought both the CD cover and band name was wicked cool.
It was fun to discover them. I decided to look further and beyond All the Same once, and looked at some of their song titles. "Issues" sort of caught my eye, so I listened to it, and BAM I was begging and pleading to buy "Dressed Up as Life".

Re: How I first heard Sick Puppies...
My first introduction was thrust upon me by a crazy girl (girlfriend)
On our first date she mentioned this band...but truth be told I wasn't really interested - normally my music choice is 80's metal such Motley Crue, Def Leppard, you know, all the greats !
But then she kept talking about this band and eventually made me a mix-tape so i could listen to stuff at work. There was close to 70 songs on that thing, and the number of different artists was at least 30, but the songs that stuck out for me were SP's A**hole Father, Cancer, and My World; Buckcherry's Crazybi**h; and Fleetwood Mac's Tango in the Night - so needless to say...it was pretty varied.
So from 70 songs, i just kept repeating the above 5 songs over and over...then fleetwood mac were punted and it was just 4 songs...
Heard the full album a few days later and was amazed by it. Since then I've been hooked!

i first head them on the local rock station, but it real did not peak my interest.
I saw the live at bayfest and that was the turning point, I am now a fan for life!
