How do you get Sick Puppies to play in your town?

Hi there...I'm fairly new to the forum, but have been welcomed by many...I feel the love. My sister just today finally joined the forum here after me repeatedly doing this to her head...lol j/k. Her name is Kristy but her screen name is KrystiBitch. She dreamed up this concept to get them to come to our town Plattsburgh,NY and play a concert here. Either just Sick Puppies w/opening bands or Sick Puppies with a couple other bands. This could help out all involved. Bands making $$$ exposing their music, selling merchandise, and creating new fans who can't travel maybe, and some of the ticket money would go to the community recreation dept or something to help the community (still working on that part). She thought that maybe we should start by writing our mayor. She drafted up a letter and I was talking to her and added my .02 cents. Was just wondering what your guys thoughts on this might be. Have any of you tried to do this in your communities??? Be honest and tell me what you think....I can handle it... lol
We are mainly fed up with having to travel either to the Albany, NY area (like 2 1/2-3hrs) or VT (Higher Ground 1 1/2 hrs) away to see a decent show. Especially when we have a perfectly good building practically in our own back yard that can be put to good use besides just sports. Think about the good PR (to top all they already do) it could bring to the band. Sick Puppies could save smaller towns. Radio stations, local tv stations, and newspapers could all do write-ups on the event. Local business's could have booths to promote their business's at the event. Local stores not involved could receive business from travelers for the event. People always need a place to stay (hotels/motels) and a good meal (local mom & pop) Promote local!! I'm getting super excited just writing this down now. But again we need to hear your guys thoughts and the truth. I'm hoping that you guys will say its a great idea go for it and not recite one of Sick Puppies lyrics "tell me all your plans and I'll laugh back in your face...."...lol

"Hello, Mayor. My name is Kristy Gardner. I work for/with my sister and mother at the Plattsburgh Flower Market. I recently went to a Sick Puppies concert in Vt at Higher Ground (http://www.highergroundmusic.com/). It got me thinking about what we could do in NY. Since Plattsburgh has a money issue, we were thinking that we need a place in Plattsburgh that we could go see concerts. First place that came to mind was the Crete Civic Center. I know they use the center for sports related things but why can't we try to get more people to travel to Plattsburgh to enjoy other kinds of entertainment. The local businesses could set up booths at the center to show non-locals what Plattsburgh has to offer. The tickets at Higher Ground in VT run around $15 each. We could do something like charge $5 for parking, drinks, and food. We were thinking maybe a business like a flower shop to give flowers to the Performers. I would think that we could get Walmart, Best Buy, or Target to sponser the center for concerts. Depending on what kinds of music it would be, there could be radio stations there like 99 the buzz, 95 triple x, or some other local radio stations. They might be able to sponser too. I looked up the Center online and they do sell tickets on Ticket Master, so it would be easy to get bands to come. Another good idea about having concerts there is that the highway is right there, so if the band needs to get out they can do it fast. The concert that i went to at Higher Ground sold out all their tickets. The band, Sick Puppies, has been there a few times and they sell out all the time. Think how many people would have to stay in a hotels or just need to go shopping. And maybe we could get Plattsburgh on the map for people that don't know we exist. Please let me know what you decide or come up with."

Good luck. It would be cool if you can talk them into having live shows, but they even if they agreed to it, they can't control whether or not SP play there, really.

Well Sick Puppies Love the DJ from my local Radio Station he was even thanked on tripolar, So i really dont even have to do anything, they will stop in my area every year, they have for the last 3 years

Yeah our radio stations are WIRY (AM RADIO!) country music here in NY basically. Closest is going to be 1hr 15min away 99.9 FM THE BUZZ in VT. NYers up here are just sick of turning on the news and hearing everything VT....you know like the Brady Bunch...MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA , but here its VT,VT, VT...they are the ones with the advertising dollars and they are the ones that do everything fun....I mean we can't even get anyone cool to play at our County Fair which is literally 15min from my house. We've had Simple Plan there but that was a good 5-7yrs ago I'd say...I think we had Bowling For Soup but that was 3-5 yrs ago.
